LOL.
How many people left the work force?
LOL.
How many people left the work force?
TeaBaggers’ Fault!
I’m skeptical, but I hope it’s true.
The real numbers will be released next week after the traditional "week after the propaganda numbers release" adjustments are made.
From CNBC, no less ...
The national unemployment rate is becoming an increasingly meaningless statistic when it comes to painting a true picture of economic and job growth.
While the December drop from 9.4 percent to 9.0 percent might have looked nice on paper, digging through the real numbers shows the actual jobs picture hasnt improved at all.
In fact, the situation is at best stagnating, despite headline numbers that look like things are getting better.
At the heart of the unemployment rate deception are the nearly three million Americans counted as marginally attached to the labor force. Those folks would take a job if offered but actually arent actively looking and thus not counted in the governments official statistics. There are a million more of them than there were in January 2008, thanks to the lousy job market that seems to be improving only at the margins.

If this “news” is true, then why is the stock market down? We have had many days of an increase of a dollar or two in oil with a rally.
The market smells BS and so do I.
Obviously the result of a new Republican Congress. /s
(Hey folks, play the Dimmocrats game and start taking the credit for this...)
Lets not get our panties in a wad - as Rush sez, you have to READ the statistics in the report to get the FULL picture ...
The STRIKING statistic I find is that the are 5.2% MORE people WHO WANT A JOB now than one year ago in Feb. 2010. BUT, they ARE NOT BEING COUNTED as unemployed [Table A-16].
This is 2-tenths of 1 percent of the total workforce of approximately 154 million.
Spend a few minutes and read the Tables at the end of the following link:

That’s odd, because Gallup only two days ago, Gallup said it would be going up to over 10%.

If I could play with my families numbers the way the liberals play with employment numbers, I’d be a millionaire.
How many of these were gubment jobs?
does everyone remember 3rd grade math class? we were told to check our work, which means... adding the numbers in reverse and they should work. so let’s do that.
from the article:
—
current unemployment rate: 8.9%
january unemployment rate: 9.7%
change in unemployment rate: 0.8%
new jobs added since january: 192,000
number of unemployed people: 13.7m *
long term unemployed dropped 217,000 to 5.99m
new jobs created:
—
factories 33,000
education 40,000
professional & business services 47,000
leisure & hospitality 21,000
transportation & warehousing 22,000
construction 33,000
state & local govt jobs -30,000 (cut)
—
they state the total jobs created was 192,000 and then they broke it down by sector. adding up the sectors, we get:
33,000 + 40,000 + 47,000 + 21,000 + 22,000 + 33,000 - 30,000
which equals:
166,000
ok, basic math failure. either they left out some sectors, or something isn’t adding up already.
the current unemployment rate is supposed to be 8.9% with 5.99m on long term unemployment (ie: permanently lost American jobs).
with the estimated number of jobs in the US around 154m, a quick glance shows:
TotalUnemployed / TotalJobs = UnemploymentRate
13.7m / 154m = 8.9%
this confirms the 154m total jobs figure, and seems to work... if you don’t count the fact that the number of long term unemployed is really a shrinkage in the total employment. reducing the 154m by the 5.99m that have left the work sector, we get:
TotalUnemployed / TotalJobs = UnemploymentRate
13.7m / (154m - 5.99m) = 9.3%
right off the bat we see they are inflating the total number of jobs to help their stats.
let’s work it from another angle:
NewJobsAdded = TotalEmployed * ChangeInUnemploymentRate
NewJobsAdded = 154m * 0.8%
NewJobsAdded = 1,232,000
that doesn’t jive with the 192,000 new jobs created
Great! Then monetization of the debt, $100+ oil and the fall of the US dollar are working! Thank goodness!
8.9% unemployment has about as much credibility to it as 24 inches has to my waist size.
What’s more, the ratio of discrepancy may be similar with regard to both.

It’s time to play, FUN WITH NUMBERS!
How many of these jobs are part-time seasonal positions for the upcoming spring/summer. In my area the two major big box home improvement retailers announced they were hiring several hundred people to work seasonal jobs in their garden centers.
