NASHVILLE, Tenn. Tennessee drivers may soon have to start strapping their pets into a seatbelt with driving.
Under a bill sponsored by Rep. Jim Cobb, dogs or other animals must be restrained while in the interior of a motor vehicle in motion.
According to the Spring City Republican, not only can it be distracting for drivers to have a pet roaming around a vehicle, it could be potentially dangerous for them.
Jessie Medina is the general manager at the PETCO store in Bellevue and told Nashville's News 2 there are already plenty of products available.

If nothing annoys you more than that, you’ve got a pretty good, stress free life.
I live in TN - to build a house in my county you don’t even have to submit blueprints so now I have to strap in my dog?
Mine don’t wander around the car - they lie down on the back seat. What a goofy idea.
After the attempt to put a cat in a belt, you would be driving to the ER to get stitched up. Send the bill to the stupid politican that thinks the law is great..
Yep, right here in Cookeville, TN. The dog jumps out, tail wagging, bouncing around like he wants to play. Cop squeals like a girl and grabs his gun, then shoots the dog. Right there on the dash cameral.
Hmm, no mention of his party, so I have to assume he is a D. Let me guess, it will be a passive enforcement only, never to be legal for a primary reason for a law enforcement stop.

Have they tested that device? To me it looks badly designed. I don’t see any support for the rear half of the dog. The dog’s rear body will be thrown forward, putting a lot of stress on his underarm tendons and bones, and also his neck. He’ll end up strangled and with injured front legs. They need to design a booster seat, like a child’s booster seat, that will accommodate a dog’s shape.
Doh, you got me. Oh well, a progressive nannystater is a progressive nannystater.
My dog jumped out of the window once.
It would prevent that, anyway. Maybe.
Funny thing is....I can relate. But just when you think you've seen it all...something comes along you've never thought of.
Been there, done that.
I've worked with patients in hospitals for over 20 yrs...About the time you think you've seen everything.....You are mistaken.
I could tell you stories...as I'm quite sure you could tell me a story or two.
Best FRegards,
My small dogs have always rode in a car seat like the one above.
The seat is held down by the seat belt, and the dog is strapped to the seat belt via his collar/body harness.

Same with Police dogs?
How about cats?
Were are the seat belts on school buses?
If I lived there I would be tempted to take my cat to his office and turn her loose. He obviously has all of the really important stuff taken care of and could use his spare time to play the popular game called Catch the Cat! Wonder if I should warn him that it often takes longer than playing a round of golf. NAH!
My dogs are always seatbelted in the car. Anyone who has seen what happens to a dog in an auto accident knows a seatbelt can save their lives, too. I do it because I love my dogs.
A small animal loose in the car (lapdog or housecat) can be big trouble if it chooses to burrow under the brake, clutch, and/or accelerator pedals. A pet carrier, or a leash short enough and tied far back enough that the pet cannot reach this area, should be more than sufficient.
He’s just a Dem in a RINO suit.
What’s next Obamacare for dogs?
No, collective bargaining rights.
Tenn. Lawmakers need legislative seat belts to prevent them from hitting the windshield of overregulation.
Not all nanny-statists are Democrats.
