Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) said Tuesday that House Republicans want to strip government funding of PBS because they have a "vendetta against Elmo."
Boxer made the comments during a floor speech where she made the case for her bill that would ensure that the president and lawmakers are not paid if a government shutdown occurs.
Boxer said that the cost of four hours of the Iraq war would be enough to keep PBS funded and the popular fire-red children's character on the air.
Boxer believes that the GOP has more than just a vendetta against Elmo. She added that Republicans hold a "vendetta against healthcare" and a "vendetta against clean energy."
House Republicans last month passed a bill that would strip government funding for both National Public Radio and PBS.
Whew..... Bert is off the hook
Just let this little puppet go on his own, and Elmo will make more money than anyone at pbs can spend.
Now, the nightly news with some asshole that sounds like he came from England, he'll be gone.
"Hey, Babs: I'm the one who nailed the little bastard. What're ya gonna do about it?"

This is the video where all the characters are telling each other they worked so hard for that title.
This is what all leftists deserve - mocking derision.
Truth is totally against what the Left stands for. Facts make them feel “oogly”. Case in point, the only ones that still believe in AGW are Leftwing nuts that go along with the Cancunian banning of water (dihydrogen monoxide).
Justice is offensive,if you really are talking about justice as it was meant in OldSpeak. They only like justice if it is the NewSpeak version which is called “social justice” where certain groups get preferential
treatment because of perceived wrongs against them.
The American way. How would anyone DARE to presume that America is better than other countries such as Cuba, Venezuela, Libya, etc. Nope, No more. Not having it.
From now on the Ministry of Information and Media commands that Superman may say: “Social Justice, Workers of the World unite, Some animals are more equal than others and Arbeit macht frei. He may never say the archaic, racist, nationalistic, pro (yech!)Capitalist phrase: Truth, Justice and the American Way”
That is all. Await further instructions.
Tickle me Elmo? I think not.
This proves the voters in California are brain dead!
I really wanted to comment here, but the comments already posted are so good that all I’ll say is “Bravo! Bravo!”
“Californians, please notice that your junior senator has the intellectual capacity of a first grader.”
I fear you are far too kind. Boxer is six fries short of a McDonald’s Happy Meal — except in San Francisco where they’re banned.
Somebody in Congress, Senate, needs to stand up in from of the podium and emphatically demand, “Cut the crap”.
When you consider who her “constituents” are, I agree. She represents the brain dead quite well.
Unfortunately, not all of us Californians get a say in whether or not she’s selected, we do get the albatross around our neck though.
