Breaking News: Obama action against DOMA coming
Washington Post ^ | 2-23-11 | Jonathan Capehart

Posted on 02/23/2011 9:39:31 AM PST by Justaham

A well-placed and trusted source tells me that, any minute now, Attorney General Eric Holder will issue a statement announcing that it will no longer defend so-called Defense of Marriage Act lawsuits in court. The source believes DOJ had come to the conclusion that heightened scrutiny would apply, and that these cases cannot be defended in court. A 530d letter has been sent to Congress informing it that, if it wants to defend the statute, it is free to do so. A case is pending now that has a filing deadline of March 11.

This is huge, folks. By definitively stating that gay men and lesbians deserve heightened scrutiny, the Obama administration is declaring that there is no government interest in perpetuating the discrimination aggrieved parties are trying to redress.

So when a Republican Administration takes over in 2012, they can refuse to enforce and defend Obamacare. BUH-BYE OBAMCARE!

That's assuming BO/BS won't suspend the 2012 elections.

You're assuming BO/BS won't suspend the 2012 elections.

Oboma, well versed in Alinski tactics and community organizing, is attempting to incite the American people into violence. It MUST come from the middle or the right. He then plans on using that violence against us. He'll "have no choice" but do what he wants to do to "save the country from the angry right wing mobs."

Speak out. Talk. Network. Do everything but resort to violence. He needs violence - desperately! It's the only thing that will save his presidency and his revolution.

I guess if you are a baby killer, illegal or homo you get a pass in the USA. Law abiding citizens that support guns, God and the constitution are a minority. God Bless help America.

His agenda is not working. So now he will decide the strive to throw out former presidents law to garner support. His hope is only to cause chaos and demonstrations. If he gets enough people riled up he can shut down the internet, and demonstrations get more intense than he strives to impose martial law and no elections in 2012, and he becomes the dictator that he wants to be. he will suspend the Congress and the Supreme Court. Welcome to Obama’s Coup attempt.

So, we can marry farm animals too or have 50 wives of all ages. LAMBDA can marry men and boys. Obama has this king delusion and Eric Holder is his pos.

“THIS IS AN IMPEACHABLE OFFENSE”

Gear down there big rig. The President is entitled to decide for himself what the Constitution requires him to do. He takes an oath to uphold the Constitution, not to obey the courts or accept all existing statutes as valid. This is painful while Obama is President, but it might be handy later.

Consider that a Republican President taking office in 2013 could immediately issue an executive order forbidding implementation of Obamacare, eliminating all positions it created and impounding any funds appropriated under it. Repeal could come later in due course. Sounds good to me.

Yep. He needs a villain to protect the American people from. The radical revolutionaries are a minority, so he can't just take over. He needs violence - from us. Lots of it.
He's getting frustrated, and throwing everything he can at us right now. He knows his time is short. Unless he can get the American people waring with each other, his revolution will fail.
Because the whole world is falling apart under Oboma, the people are turning on him. No, that's not what he needs. He needs a villain - a big one - a wild, out of control right wing enemy. HE CAN'T CREATE ONE! He must be getting angrier, frustrated, and more determined by the day."Fight you damn right wingers! Riot! Shoot your guns! Rip things apart! Get MAD! How much more can you take before I break you down!!!"

Fine. Now cut the DofJ budget in half. They’re not enforcing half the laws anyway. Oh, and don’t fund ANY lawsuits against the states while the House is at it!

"Consider that a Republican President taking office in 2013 could immediately issue an executive order forbidding implementation of Obamacare,"

He/She couldn't do that. An Executive Order cannot undo existing law see: Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. v. Sawyer, 343 US 579 (1952) . BUT, he/she could order the DoJ to drop its legal defense of Obamacare. And in fact, if the new president felt that Obamacare was unconstitutional, it would be their moral imperative to not defend it, in a court of law.

He's going to lose them, too. There's no money left for AIDs funding.

Well he is in a political spot, kinda of sux for us and him, being a souless, black hearted sock puppet of the radical atheist enviro left. He cannot go all in about drilling. He does and he loses a critical constituency of east and west coast liberal enviro nazis who can afford 5 dollar a gallon milk and would gladly suffer it , if it meant the end of America as they know it and a reconstituted America which loooked much like a feckless Ontario, Canada. Where as a leisure class they can chain smoke cigarettes all day from cafes, aloofly reading about the rest of us in the local newspapers. These people, Obama and the red shirted communists in Wisconsin need to be defeated and crushed, modern day Torries.

"Speak out. Talk. Network. Do everything but resort to violence. He needs violence - desperately! It's the only thing that will save his presidency and his revolution. "

Absolutely right. I usually keep a very light touch regarding politics on Facebook, since many of my friends are liberals (very nice ladies) from church. This week I am trying to diplomatically nudge some of them on the Wisconsin situation, and now DOMA. Nothing hostile, and plenty of compliments to good teachers, and generally trying not to turn them off. Regarding the DOMA situation, I'm pointing out that we have a process for changing laws and that it's not by the whim of one individual - that's a dictatorship, not a constitutional republic. It's hard to deal with the emotionally wound up liberals who aren't seeing that the means by which we effect change are sometimes more important than the changes themselves.

Perhaps, pre-emptively, the Churches should preform ONLY Holy Matrimony, and not couple it with a license. That way it will have nothing to do with the govt. They wouldn’t be legal, so to speak, but couples would be married in the eyes of God. To many, especially now, that is what matters.

“So this basically oks gay marriage? Same sex couples in any state can get married now?”

No. The law is still in place until the SCOTUS strikes it down. It’s just that when it’s challenged in court, those who support it in Congress are going to have to step up to defend it in lieu of the AG. Holder was basically giving the Congress warning that they’re going to have to step in on the 2nd Circuit case if they want the law defended.
