CHICAGO - Mayoral hopeful Rahm Emanuel, President Obama's former chief of staff, on Saturday blasted Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's move against state unions, which have triggered mass protests in Madison.
Emanuel was asked about the Wisconsin situation by reporters at his Hyde Park campaign office--down the street from the Museum of Science and Industry and near the Lake Michigan shore. Emanuel stopped at the office as he sought to get out the vote on the South Side in advance of Tuesday's election to replace Mayor Daley, who is retiring.
"I think what the governor there is doing is not just fiscal, but a political agenda. That's not what we are about.
"...I would totally reject the approach the governor of Wisconsin has taken," Emanuel said.
He added "I totally reject the notion that it would happen here," while cautioning the city would have to "live within our means."
Along with ending welfare, those things have to go.
A lot of very low income housing has been dozed and a lot of very pricey high-rise condos have been built. It may seem heartless, but what is the point of being a liberal elitist if you can't flaunt it.
Now that’s comedy.
Rahmbo feeling the heat of actually having to govern.... HAHAHA!
Rahm “...cautions the city to ‘live within our means.’ “
Meanwhile, his old boss cautions the nation to ‘live within our means’ while proposing the largest deficit in the nation’s history, almost 8 times larger than the deficit in 2008.
These people are totally shameless, if not completely insane.
When you end socialism, you end all of it.
Restoring some freedoms and property rights is sadly distateful to some freepers.
For the thousandth time, this is what Freud called
“projection”. The way Rahmbo characterizes the Wisc.
Governor is EXACTLY what the Left is guilty of: they imply it’s primarily a political agenda first, masquerading as a fiscal agenda—a description in a nutshell of what the Left has been up to full-speed-ahead for the past two years.
The jig is up for the Left-—if they push much further it will look very much like they’re trying to foment another Civil War. Their much-beleaguered Public Sector union crybabies have become the privileged class, and we are now the have-nots. As former Lib Pat Caddell said the other night on Hannity , very simply and bluntly, in talking about the Wisconsin protestors “ They think they’re entitled to those entitlements rather than the taxpayers who are in fact PAYING for those entitlements.” I would add that the protestors are apparently too stupid to realize who is buttering their bread, and too stupid to recognize the fact that it’s US. Without US, they’d be as strapped and pissed-off as we are. Instead they aim their venom first and foremost at the Governor, who is of course only acting on behalf of the majority that elected him, and
an increasing number of fans who will support him the more they’re forced to watch this classic thuggish and dishonest Leftist behavior. These spoiled children are gradually coming to see how “the other half lives”, and has been living for so many years. No one pays our way, we pay theirs, and look at the gratitude we get for it.
Emanuel is a cockroach.
My apologies. I meant the idea of Mr. Congeniality accusing anybody else of playing politics. That’s what I get for not paying attention.
Not too much slips by The Ballerina.
“Gee Rahm, isnt that what ALL politicians do - push a political agenda?”
Exactly! And he’s right—it would never happen in Illinois. You don’t see democracy in action living under a dictatorship of one party rule. The Dems rammed thru a massive Illinois state income tax hike without one Republican vote. It amounts to a $2000 pay cut this year....and not a word of objection in the media.
Now don’t pick on Rahm. It’s not his fault he was born without a cerebral cortex. He’s just off his meds today.
Post of the day!
Of course he is, you moron!! So is Obama and the Dems!!!
Rahm Emanuel just proved why he is incompetent to ever hold or be associated with political office again!! He's a blithering idiot who's sole skill is acknowledging the obvious!!!
Well, Rahm, you never want a serious crisis go to waste...and what I mean by that is that it’s an opportunity to do things that you think you could not do before.
Sounds familiar...
Can’t fiscal sanity be a “political agenda”?
A U.S. Representative or political advisor is a few steps removed from the spot light of mayor, governor, or president. He may prove to be politically inept when the klieg lights are bearing down.
My advice to the pretty ballerina...
“Just turn your pretty head and walk away”
