Cops booted an unruly group of city teachers union officials from a posh Albany eatery after they caused a ruckus over their dinner tab.
Paul Egan, the union's political and legislative director, set off the fracas - claiming the quail he was served, and finished, wasn't large enough.
Egan and about two dozen other members of the United Federation of Teachers spread over three tables at the swank bistro Marché inside 74 State, a boutique hotel down the block from the state Capitol.
And with Egan apparently worked into a froth over the size of his quail in the $40 prix fixe meal, union members looked on without paying the group's bill.
Egan began shouting and demanded to see the manager. The restaurant's owner soon appeared, and pleaded with Egan to calm down, sources said.
When he didn't, restaurant staffers called the cops.
Two officers were dispatched to handle a man who was "yelling and refusing to leave," Albany Detective James Miller said.
To hustle the scene-makers out of the dining room, restaurant managers reduced the bill for the group's prix fixe dinners, Miller said.
Officers told Egan the dispute was a civil matter and ordered him to pay the bill - to which he followed up by asking if he was required to leave a tip, sources said.
"They all had to stand up and walk out the door with the cops behind them," one source said. "It was mortifying. It was like they had to slink out the door."
A source with ties to the union said it's not the first time Egan has been kicked out of a restaurant after making a scene.
"He's done this more than once, though he never got escorted out by the police before that I know of," the source said.

Yeah, and these are the very people to whom many pay dues. For what? So they can eat at luxury places and bill the Union for their food? I wonder if SEIU has a union there.
PS. Was this guy taught in a public school? What, he can’t read a menu with the prices? Or did he flunk math as well?
"The world owes us a living!"
Who do the NY Italian “bosses” back up - the local eateries or the union thugs. Just asking.
Why would a lard ass like that order a quail?
Mr. Lard ass should have ordered a 10 pound turkey!
Unions everywhere.
"The Public Employees Federation - PEF is a union representing 58,000 professional, scientific, and technical state employees."
It's the only state where Unions have to belong to a State union.
I posted the following on another thread where someone had said the union members were like a well-used whore. But not sure what that meant, but is sounded good!:

“Well used whore - I think it fits very well when talking about the unions.
Does all the work and gives the money to higher ups.
Do what the higher-ups tell them, and they get treated okay.
Try to go against the higher-ups, and you get knocked down.
Dependent on the higher-ups to keep their jobs and their fix of perks.
And the higher-ups just rake in the cash and the benefits.
Hey Babe. Comn - you know I love ya!

He looked at the menu and said, "Okay!"
When he f@rts, he applauds himself.

Okay, I'll go back to being polite, now.
Unions are like abusive husbands. When the beaten up wife leaves he says “Why???”
I see that you have met my older brother.
I do not go out to eat with him anymore, he always tries to get something for nothing and it is embarrassing.
I wonder if the letter was already set up in cache ready to send to his next victim.
Hey...he was just looking out for the taxpayers.
Ah yes ... humble public servants who now, because of their privileged position as tools of the government class, have assumed the imperious air of Roman Senators.
I knew a guy who regularly pulled this stunt. He got free meals this way all the time. Looks like somebody called this turkey's bluff.
If he wants the big game on a quail hunt, I suggest that Mr. Egan goes out with Dick Cheney for an afternoon.

Paul Egan, teachers union boss in restaurant stir, had role in 2000 student cheating scandal
Long before getting rowdy while ringing up nearly $2,000 on dinner and drinks at the swank Marché bistro in Albany, Paul Egan was identified as a major player in a cheating scandal in a 2000 city investigative report.
Assemblyman Joel Miller, the ranking member of the Education Committee, said Egan should be fired.
The cheating scandal alone means Egan “should not be involved in education,” said Miller (R-Pougkeepsie). “He should have been gone a long time ago.”
Egan, who was proctoring a math test when the cheating occurred, refused to apologize Wednesday for the booze-fueled meal melee - and ripped the restaurant in an angry letter.
