MADISON, Wis. — Police officers are looking for Democratic Wisconsin lawmakers who were ordered to attend a vote on a bill that would strip public employees of collective bargaining rights.

No Democrats showed up for Thursday's Senate session, meaning a vote cannot be taken. Republicans need one Democratic senator to be present. Calls to Democratic leaders were not immediately returned.

Republicans are pushing the anti-union bill proposed by GOP Gov. Scott Walker. Thousands of people clogged the halls of the Statehouse for a third straight day in opposition.

Protesters clogged the hallways of the Wisconsin state Capitol on Thursday as the Senate prepared to pass a momentous bill that would strip government workers, including school teachers, of nearly all collective bargaining rights.

They want to play hardball. Play hardball back. Since the police are out looking for them they can be presumed missing. The governor can then appoint as many interim senators as needed for government to function.

It has been stated like 10 times that they can’t do that. They need 20 members present to vote.

“How will they catch them?”

They won’t have to be caught. Just drop this vote for now. Schedule regular business that the dems will want to be present for. Then lock the doors, and bring this measure back up for a vote.

20 needed for vote....So...if one of the 19 Republicans switch to a D, now there are 18 Republicans....they would need TWO (2) demoncrats, rather than just one. Flawed logic, but nice try. Until I learned the situation, I thought it was a great idea also.

FReegards!

Sounds like solid grounds for a voter recall if you ask me.
In the army, we called it AWOL.... an offense which usually meant jail time. At the very least, these democrats should be impeached or recalled.

[It’s actually a numbers game. They need 20 senators present, there are only 19 Republicans]

So they don’t have the votes for it to pass?

This tactic of hiding will be used again , state by state, as our nation has to face tough choices ahead.

The remaining legislatures need start impeachment proceedings on those that refuse to work their elected positions.

Let the Gov replace those that have been impeached.

Apparently, the Democrats believe the best way the Democrat Senators can serve Wisconsin is to leave the state. There is a lot to be said for that.
