On Friday February 11, the day Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak stepped down, CBS correspondent Lara Logan was covering the jubilation in Tahrir Square for a 60 MINUTES story when she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration. It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into frenzy.
In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers. She reconnected with the CBS team, returned to her hotel and returned to the United States on the first flight the next morning. She is currently in the hospital recovering.
There will be no further comment from CBS News and Correspondent Logan and her family respectfully request privacy at this time.

Knew something was going on when she was not on air from here in US after returning to CONUS.
This rumor has been working for a few days, and was all but confirmed by the lack of comment or denials from anyone at Black Rock or West 57th.
Some may say Logan has a checkered past, but nothing deserves this!
When 3 CBS engineers were killed by a perp years ago, Rather went into a (well deserved) on-air outrage. This time, there will probably be nothing, because, Lord knows, we don’t want to upset the “Arab Street.” Source with many years in SWA says many Muslims will approve of this, because, it was an infidel getting what she deserved.
When will the rest of America wake up?
Nonsense. Consult your wife about your comment, and tell me what she says.
Where's Annette Benning? Shouldn't she don her harem get-up and go plead with the mullahs?
As I said in my prior post, “No human being should be treated like this.” No man/woman/liberal/conservative/atheist/etc. should be violated like that.
Anytime you are around ARABS, you should expect this type of behavior. They are barbaric and have no respect for women. This is how Islamic men treat women. All women in an Arab country should be Warned!
This type of revisionism attacks what little credibility the MSM has left. Now we will never know what happened. Also, this type of report lends credence to those who excuse what happened or input adverse motive and culpability to Logan and CBS.
Her camera crew apparently could not help though, though the size of the mob might made any attempt by them to help her futile.
Though she may have operated in Afghanistan, there was the protection of US Troops.
That was not true in Egypt.
Maybe that is a lesson to learn from this...
I hope no freeper who may one day work as a conservative public person is on this disgusting display of FR’s dark side.
Think Tony Snow (RIP)
They woulda torn him to shreds if he had been anywhere near the vile crap spewed on this now lengthy thread by our resident sick pups.
I guarantee you lefty blogs are having a blast with this.
JR purged anything that could have been used against Tony. I’d deep six this thread myself just for the shame of it.
I’m sure the CBS crew wishes they had a “whiff of grapeshot” available at the time Lara Logan was hauled off to be gangraped. Then again, maybe not. Liberals say “don’t fight back.” Plus, they don’t believe in being armed.
Off topic but relating to Bonaparte, the damage from his whiff of grapeshot is still there in the buildings in Paris. I forgot which building we saw but you could still see the holes from the grapeshot in the building. Pretty cool.
But then we were on a tour for the 60th Anniversary & the Normandy invasion and the Battle of the Bulge, so from the Pegasus Bridge to Malmedy, we saw a lot of buildings with shot, shell and bullet damage. It was a very good tour and sobering.
The only problem for me is that it was an all WWII tour, which of course was great, but being on the soil of France & Germany, I couldn’t stop seeing the ghosts of ancient Roman Legions building Fort Paris, feudal knights touring the realms of their Lords and Ladies, Joan of Arc leading her troops to victory, Musketeershordes of young Frenchmen and Germans ground up in the machine gun fire of World War I, and of course Napoleon’s Guard lancers in full charge.
France is so steeped in history, being there is overwhelming for a history nut and goes way beyond just any one conflict.
i detest this face of free republic
Yes.
I think Moses and the children of Israel would disagree that Egypt was a “a land of beautiful people; kind people; wonderful people” ... “Before the invasion of muslim arabs in 639AD.”
..just sayin...
While I agree with you in principle, I do ask you to consider this. Is it possible that those making what you call "light hearted remarks" are, like me, so tired of the way the State-Run Media has demonstrated their anit-American bias over the years that they/we may no longer consider a member of the media worthy of such a "let's circle the wagons around the American" defense?
Does anyone deserve to be assaulted and raped? Heavens no. That's not what I'm saying. Nor do I know this reporter from Adam: I have no idea what her specific background is. (I rarely post here at FR because I don't take the time to be fully informed about a lot of current events.)
But I think I can be excused for not being very passionate about coming to the defense of someone who chose to be employed by an entity that long ago chose sides; and chose a side that I dispise.
Do I have sympathy for the victim? Absolutely. Do I wish her well and hope she recovers fully, both physically and emotionall? You betcha. But geez, louise. What did she expect was going to happen? The assmebled mob would invite her to afternoon tea??!!
Just my 2¢
emotionall = emotionally
She better not complain too much, the PC police wouldn’t like it.
way too many uncomfortable mean posts about this for me here....
i personally know at least 2 dozen freepers
I have never met any that would post the sort of trash I've seen on these Logan threads
can they all be genuine?
Anyone who flames you for that post is pretty damed retarded.
I’ve been here a long time. I was banned once for over a year back when speaking out against amnesty was not as tolerated.
I have never had any influence, know nothing of the intrigue or machinations of the forum and don’t even know who the mods are though I suspect a few...but have done a lot of FR associated on the ground political work.
That said...I would purge the holy hell out of these shameful exhibits of folks with issues.
These sorts of conservatives I can do without.
Women are to be vaunted, valued, protected and treated right..even left leaning ones.
Would folks be saying such garbage about Megan Kendall or Julie Banderas?
Thank you.
Sure-—I understand and agree -— I was referring to Egypt when it was Christian - it was beautiful.
You're not alone. Dittos to the max.
I haven't a clue. But you raise a good point. And yet...
Women are to be vaunted, valued, protected and treated right..even left leaning ones.
I agree. And yet...just where does one draw the line? I'm not trying to bait you; I'm really curious. I struggle with trying to discern what to do when I encounter a person, who happens to be a woman, who has done something I consider stupid.
For example, if a person, who happens to be a woman, shoots herself in the foot, should I hold my tongue when I want to tell her that she acted stupidly to do this?
I adore my wife. And I vaunt, value, protect, and attempt to treat rightly her--and all--women. But if my wife were to point a loaded gun at her foot frequently, and I didn't criticize her for this (albeit in a very loving way), wouldn't I be acting foolishly? Is it really a benefit to her for me to hold my tongue?
Again, I'm not trying to bait you. But what you state so unequivically intrigues me.
Cheers.
