Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry have been at each others throats for what seems like an eternity. Hes supposedly acting like a racist pig, and the allegations that he loses it every time their daughter, Nahla, is referred to as "black" arent helping any. Halle seems to have had enough and is firing back with some racism of her own, insisting that Nahla be referred to as black -- and even invoking the one-drop theory.
The theory states that anyone who has even a single drop of African blood in them is black. It dates back to slavery days, when it was used to enslave as many people as possible, and to segregate the rest.
Why in the world does Halle feel the need to drag out such a negative historical reference?
Its one thing for Halle to identify as black, but by invoking the one-drop rule, shes essentially ruling out half of her heritage: the white half. Now shes doing the same thing to Nahla. Of course, as her parent, Halle has the right to decide how to raise her child, but why is it so important to her to deny the white half of Nahlas lineage?
We all know that both of them are part black. No one is disputing that -- except, of course, Aubry. What I dont understand is the need to declare, via a racist "rule," that they are both all black.
In her vehement opposition to having Nahla referred to as white, Halle is doing exactly what Aubry is doing. Shes every bit as racist as he is if she continues to denigrate the white blood in Nahlas veins. Dragging up such a hateful -- and hate-filled -- rule makes it even worse. Halle could have simply stated that she identifies herself as black, and her daughter as well.
A thoughtful commentary on why thats important to her would hold much more weight than these spears shes throwing. I can only hope shes throwing them to get at Aubry, and not because she actually believes in denying an entire half of her daughters life.
Because they are both insane.
In her case, Black is also beautiful.
This rant is much ado about nothing. Halle is just recognizing how it is.
In this case, she is proving that “Beauty is only skin deep”.
Beauty is only skin deep
That also seems the case with “Queen” Halle.
Hello?
Nobody cares anymore!!
This BS is very BOOORRING!!!!!
Halfie Barre?
Because it works...
She’s nuts.
Beautiful baby.
Unfortunately, it has become sheik to be a Black racist these days... but in actually, it is more tantamount to being an uppity snob toward anyone who is not of your kind; the well-to-does vs the not; hollywood elitists vs the not; politically powerful vs the not; beautiful vs the not. It is a sickness of the soul, which in the end, traps the individual in the hell of self, which eventually is cordoned off from everything good and lovely, to a lonely desert isle of searing hot sand.
Halle is adamant that the kid qualify for affirmative action.
Why don’t they just raise the kid as an American? Some day the grown up daughter will ask her own questions and do her own research into her “heritage.” At that point, it will be far more meaningful to her than if she had been indoctrinated by her parents at an early age.
Racist asses.
Skin color or a silly “proto-African” name like Shakeequ’ua has nothing to do with heritage.
My brother-in-law, for instance, who has deep blue eyes, white hair, white skin, a white beard, and who is from Cape Town, is a REAL “African-American”.
Is throwing spears the same as chucking spears?
Appropriately, a lonely desert isle of searing hot sand is precisely where one would expect to find a sheik.
The Jim Crow laws said anyone with 1/8 Black blood was Black. Even the Nazis said only 1/4 or more Jewish Blood made you Jewish. So she is siding with the racist Democrats of the Old South. Nice, and of course all of this is probably Bush’s fault because he “hates Black people.”
