WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama sent Congress a $3.73 trillion budget Monday that holds out the prospect of eventually bringing deficits under control through spending cuts and tax increases. But the fiscal blueprint largely ignores his own deficit commission's view that the nation is imperiled unless huge entitlement programs like Social Security and Medicare are slashed.

Obama called his new budget one of "tough choices and sacrifices," but most of those cuts would be held off until after the end of his first term.

Overall, Obama proposed trimming the deficits by $1.1 trillion over a decade. The administration is projecting that the deficit will hit an all-time high of $1.65 trillion this year and then drop sharply to $1.1 trillion in 2012, with an expected improvement in the economy and as reductions in Social Security withholding and business taxes expire.

Is there any option except monetizing the debt? If so lets hear it. I think not.

Republicans could take another trillion out by removing the growth of federal government that has happened under Barry.

President Barack Obama sent Congress a $3.73 trillion budget

The House Republicans control the nations purse strings and based on past performance we can expect the GOP, after much hand-wringing and moaning in front of the TV cameras, will sign off on this crime against the taxpayers and the nation's economic future.

No military raise, no military retirement raise, no civil servant raises, no Social Security raises. What on Earth does he need all this money for.

Taken as a whole, the $3.7 trillion budget proposal would produce a $1.1 trillion deficit for fiscal 2012 – less than this year’s projected deficit of $1.65 trillion. Over 10 years, the federal debt would increase by $7.2 trillion, but the administration says that’s $1.1 trillion less than if its plan were not implemented."

Have they no shame? These people should all be arrested for producing this kind of criminally irresponsible budget.

Rush is covering it now asking is there ANYTHING since Obama took office economically that is better (except Wall Street (stocks, etc.))? No. But we’re doubling down on all our spending.

Boehner, McConnell, Ryan, Cantor, better not let up and better be front and center with complaints.

The legit functions of the FedGov listed in Art 1 Sec 8 could probably be done for around $600 billion in today's dollars.

Impeach this SOB before he ruins us for good.

“Obama sends Congress $3.73 trillion budget”

SEND IT BACK and tell boy wonder that he needs to sharpen his pencil. Tell him cuts that occur after his first term is an insult. Tell him that if he refuses to do the right thing, he should step aside and let the adults take over.
