Obama Proposes $367 BILLION in Tax Hikes
Free Republic ^ | February 14, 2011 | Lancey Howard

According to this earlier thread which featured a Yahoo news report about the new White House budget proposal:

The White House intends to get two-thirds of the $1.1 trillion in savings from spending cuts and one-third from tax revenues, including by closing several tax loopholes, according to sources familiar with the budget.

Let's do the arithmetic, shall we?

$1,100,000,000,000 x .333 = $367,000,000,000

That's right - - Ubama is proposing $367 billion in tax hikes. That's $367 billion that disappears from private hands and ends up swirling down the government toilet. Yeah, that should help the economy.

I posted this vanity linking to the other thread because I think this thread's headline is the one that needs to be bumped and seen by as many people as possible.

$367 billion in tax hikes - - that's some serious business.

Dying Ponzi schemes become more and nor difficult to keep going. Until they finally collapse. At this point borrowing from China is not covering the vig. We have to get the Fed to print up a fresh batch of Obamabucks every week to loan to Obama in addition to what foreign suckers are willing to loan.

Good thing Barry doesn't have Rubber Stamp Pelosi as Speaker of the House of Representatives anymore - since that is where this kind of nightmare would have to originate.

We'll have to see what he does with that legislative pen of his....

. . .

Oh, please do. Combined with Obama’s energy and regulatory policies, food prices aren’t inflating nearly fast enough.

Say, I wonder what we’re paying for a pound of his wagyu beef now days.

What is the right level of revenue generation? Typically most take it as 18.5% of GDP. That works out to $2.6T. What is your number?

I’ve already seen $5 for a loaf of artisan bakery bread. Can $5 gas be far behind?

Hey obama, ****-NO!

Government is already too big, too oppressive, and taking too many of our freedoms and liberties. (even one is too many)

You haven't shown you can manage the money you get - quite the opposite in fact.

We need the money ourselves to dig this Country out of the recession you big-spending government ******** put it in.

So in short hussein obama, ****-off!

Fortunately these items are no longer included in government inflation rates like the used to be in the bad old days.

The "right level" is the minimum level necessary for the government to accomplish its Constitutionally permitted activities. I would bet the "right number" is closer to 5%.
