Chrysler shareholders thought that was a good idea. I'll bet a lot of them were employees or former employees of Chrysler.

Sorry if that’s not enough but look at it this way - if there ain’t no corporate profits, there ain’t no workers either. So just keep begrudging the corporations and their shareholders their profits - that’s such a winning hand.

Companies have goods/services that they need to provide/produce. They hired employees that provide/produce the goods/services. The companies receive payment for goods/services and they in turn pay the employees for their labor. Win-win for everyone. See how that works, Zero? I agree, and my suggestion is to it by competing with the foreign suppliers rather than making rules (tarriffs). Actually, why not do both.

I have friends who have not taken a paycheck from “their” company so their employees can maintain their standard of living and keep their jobs.
The owners of these companies are living off their savings to help other people who don’t understand what the effect is on the owners and those very same employees would never do that.
Don’t forget matching contributions to Social Security, which is another 8% right off the top and FICA, etc.
He “forgot” to mention that profits of corporations are to be shared among the investors, after expenses, which are supposed to be kept in line to maximize the investor return.
The miracle of the market is that if the wage isn’t “fair”,
no one would work for it...

Back in the mid 1980s, I ran into a guy at a gym in Oklahoma City
that had worked for Chrysler in Detroit.
He said that for a fair number of the senior union “workers”,
they took off for a bar as soon as possible along with a Wall Street Journal
to check their stock portfolios.
