This weekend's Super Bowl clash between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers will be the first in the game's 45 year history sans cheerleaders.
The Packers and the Steelers are two of the six NFL teams that do not have pom-pom squads, and they haven’t had them in years. The Packers did away with their cheerleaders in 1988 after market research indicated fans didn’t really care, and in 1970 it was an “organizational decision” to dissolve the Steelerettes.

It’s a thread about cheerleaders, if you don’t want to see women semi-provocatively dressed don’t click on a thread about cheerleaders. If he’s posting hotty pictures on a thread about the goings on in Egypt you’d have a point, but this is a cheerleader thread.
Personally, I'd rather see the Grambling Marching Band at halftime, but then again, I'm a real throwback.
I guess it's marketing and entertaining the folks who paid thousands for tickets to the Super Bowl or the tens of millions watching on TV who only watch one football game a year. I'd bet half of them couldn't tell you if a football is inflated or stuffed.

The Super Bowl is not a televised football game; It’s a bunch of television shows somewhat tied to a football game.

Free Republic is not strictly about politics, and is a place for discussing various social and cultural phenomena. Frankly, some of the pictures posted on this thread have been simply phenomenal!

Why must you force this stuff on conservative people when there is no place else in the world to talk conservative talk?

I do like the verbal construct “assaulted by your sexual desires” though, good one.
Why can’t you control YOURSELF and stay off a thread about cheerleaders, if the very sight of them is going to give you a case of the vapors?
Let’s just stick with what you are doing, if that doesn’t frighten you too much.
Why not find a porn site to post pinups and leave FR for traditional values conservative people since that’s what America needs, more conservatives?
Nobody is forcing anything on anybody. The title of the story clearly says “Cheerleaders”, if you voluntarily click on it that’s your problem. Nothing about talking conservative talk precludes the occasional break to admire the beauty that is woman.
There are dolphins in that picture, I must have missed them....
