God rest his soul. I grew up on his James Bond scores, and his music has always been a part of my life. He was one of the best, and will be greatly missed.

One my favorite composers. What a legacy he leaves behind. Many great movie scores (Out of Africa is a personal favorite), but I also cherish the non-movie albums he made and listen to them so often when I’m working or reading.
I’ll bet he will be penning some new scores for angelic choirs!

Bummer! RIP to a true musical genius.
I watched Goldfinger last night on BBC America just to hear and see the opening sequence.

Along with 007, the scundtrack to “Chaplin” is my favorite of his works.

Idiot - “scundtrack” should be “soundtrack”.

No doubt. In our house, all we have to do is hear a portion of one of Barry’s scores from another room, and we instantly know the film and are compelled to give it a look. So familiar to us, he was almost like an old friend. It was Barry’s Bond scores and Vince Guaraldi’s piano that turned me on to jazz as a kid.

I am in mourning. John Barry wrote some of the most beautiful movie scores ever. What a huge loss. The Out of Africa soundtrack is my favorite. Will listen to it today in tribute.

A few years ago he did an album of non-movie material called The Beyondness of Things. It’s fabulous, and it’s already getting hard to find.

Love the score to Somewhere in Time.
Rest in peace, John Barry.

John Barry’s GAME OF DEATH opening song is probably..probably the best I’ve heard.
It’s on my Ipod and everytime I play it, I channel Bruce Lee’s ghost and wanna kick someone’s ass. Ok seriously, it’s the bomb.

Sad. They don’t make composers/musicians like him anymore that can grab the feeling of the film. Two of my favorites:
Thunderball-the music is perfectly suited to the underwater sequences.
You Only Live Twice-meshed the spy/Oriental theme together

There is another one called Eternal Echoes. It's worth tracking down!

The scores for “Dances With Wolves” and “Mary Queen of Scotts” were the best thing about either film
