After being brought into a Rensselaer County courtroom in handcuffs, Councilman Michael LoPorto and Democratic Election Commissioner Edward McDonough pleaded not guilty Friday to a combined 116 felony counts alleging they falsified dozens of absentee votes.

The men were released on their own recognizance after being arraigned on an indictment handed up Friday morning. It charges McDonough, 47, with 38 counts of second-degree forgery and 36 counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument; LoPorto, 58, faces 13 second-degree forgery counts and 29 counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument.

Voter fraud should be a capital offense. No different than assassination of an elected official. It undermines the very pillars of the republic.

My one vote is precious to me and these asswipes think nothing of stealing it. The legislature(s) should pass laws that mandate SEVERE punishment for whoever screws with an election. SEVERE enough that they'd think 100 time before attempting it.

The best thing we can do is elect good honest people to SOS and AG positions. I think its the best thing about our election in Michigan this time around.

We elected Ruth Johnson to secretary of state position and she made a name for herself for standing up to ACORN fraud in 08 and the fake tea party this year. (Many of the same people)

The new Kansas Atty Gen has proposed measures to prevent voter fraud. Naturally, the RATS and the RAT newspaper editors are calling this a waste of money, since they claim there is no voter fraud in KS. I’ve noticed the only people complaining are RATS. Hmmm.

"Smith would not say whether future proceedings would target other suspects in the case, which saw DNA samples taken from seven other city Democrats besides LoPorto and McDonough."

DNA samples???? When we say we're being screwed by the Democrats here, we mean it figuratively rather than literally.

Funny thing is, these welfare recipients would have voted Democrat anyhow. All the guy needed to do was give ‘em a pack of Kools and a ride to the polling place.

Yes. Further, the requirements for registering and identification during elections must be improved.

Whoever commits vote fraud, whether as an individual, a member of an organization, a government official, or a politician shall upon conviction and within 30 days, be taken from their place of confinement and in a public assembly hanged, by the neck until they are dead. The body shall be cremated and the ashes scattered in the nearest landfill.
