The Birther Trial Balloon
The American Thinker ^ | January 25, 2011 | Cindy Simpson

Posted on 01/25/2011 3:28:21 AM PST by Scanian

Is anyone really surprised that Hawaii's new governor, Neil Abercrombie, was unable to produce the promised Obama long-form birth certificate? No matter how Abercrombie's words are parsed or interpreted or spun, the fact is, there is no new evidence -- just a story about a supposedly well-intentioned but bungling Hawaiian governor, prohibited from access to the certificate because of Hawaii's privacy laws, who must cease the search before he finds himself labeled another "vexatious requester."

The only thing I've found surprising lately was Chris Matthews' tacit admission that a real long-form is indeed an additional document that Obama should present. And this revelation came after months of repeated, condescending scoffs that the online images of the short form and newspaper birth announcements were more than enough evidence for any sane, non-racist person.

Rush Limbaugh recently implied that the entire Abercrombie debacle could be part of a stunt that once concluded would result in such rejection and ridicule of the "birthers" that their questions would finally be dismissed once and for all. He may be correct, and a rolled-up copy of a legitimate Hawaiian long-form might be used to further beat the sizeable percentage of the population with doubts into either embarrassed or apologetic submission. Perhaps that long-form may even contain a tidbit of embarrassing personal information, brilliantly spun by the adoring media to garner a touch of sympathy, just in time to assist a 2012 reelection campaign with a significantly toned down opposition and votes for Obama hailed as the ultimate atonement.

This is probably the best theory I’ve seen yet: the Abercrombie “search” was a trial balloon to see how much damage this issue could do to Obama in the next election.

I know there has been much talk, but are there any states that have actually passed “proof of citizenship” laws for the 2012 POTUS ballet.

Just a handful of battleground states with Republican state governments could kill any prospect of Obama even having a chance.

And if inelligible for a ballet, write-ins don’t count either. If Obama had zero chance of getting any votes in Florida and Ohio, he’d be toast out of the gate.

That seems to defy logic.
Even if Obozo comes up with a REAL birth certificate, he will be castigated for dragging the country through a needless debate, then pulling an “April’s Fool” joke.

If anything, I think it would have been best to let sleeping dogs lie, unless he felt that the dogs were about to catch up.

I cannot figure out how anyone with a brain can figure this to be a "setup." Obama pays millions to keep a birth record hidden... IF the birth record is released birthers will have paid ZERO dollars and gotten a piece of evidence that any rational American would agree should have been released in 2008! So who would look like an idiot in this? Would it be Obama forking out millions to "trick" conservative voters or American citizens that just wanted verification of Natural Born Citizen status?

We are looking at FRAUD, pure and simple. Put this in front of the American people and let them decide who is the idiot. Hands down it is Obama for his million dollar obstruction!

I’m not into ‘trial balloons’ or nuanced strategies...he needs to produce the paperwork 50 times to get on the ballot in 2012, every responsible election official in those 50 states should be able to produce a copy of this information for the citizens of each state to view. ITS OPEN BOOK TIME!

This is an attempt by the editorial staff of the American thinker to cover their rear ends for having done such a despicably poor job of covering this issue from the beginning.

Essentially, Cindy Simpson is saying that Obama is using this eligibility issue as a political dirty trick! Well...There are some SERIOUS problems with this dirty trick.

1) LTC Lakin, a 17 year, decorated, war-service veteran sits in prison over this nasty political dirty trick. Major Cook lost his secret service clearance immediately after challenging Obama and lost his civilian job. Personally, I am not laughing.

2) Obama sent TAX-PAID attorneys all over the U.S. to prevent the release of **COMMON** documents that American serfs routinely release. Obama wasted and misused these attorneys at time when plots were being laid to blow up Times Square, bomb a Pittsburgh marathon, explode a passenger plane out of the sky over Detroit, and **KILL** and wound our soldiers on their bases and recruitment centers.

I am not laughing, and I bet the American people won't either!

( and...Yeah! I am shouting, jumping up and down, and having a fit!)

Why not make it mandatory to provide a birth certificate to prove residency in order to run for president? He can provide it to run for ‘12 or he can decide not to run.

Everybody knows that Obama is in way over his head, he's misguided and is inept. Why would that change? Why is he now so smart and sly that he has been planning to reveal his birth certificate 4 years after he needed this documentation (for the most important job of his life)... JUST to embarrass his political opponents?

AND why did the DNC rewrite their required election documentation to dance around the election verification issues?

AND... why would the revelation of a legitimate birth certificate be an embarrassment to political opponents? Proof of citizenship is required, correct? What is embarrassing about seeing to it that the law is upheld? Should a customs agent be “embarrassed” when he asks for your passport and you give it to him? Are you “embarrassing” the agent by proving to him you are who you say you are?

Please read my post #9.

I agree with you. Obama and his minions ( with weenie “conservative help) are attempting to cover a massive fraud.

The American Thinker editorial staff is merely trying to cover **themselves** for doing a p** poor job of covering the issue from the beginning.

Congress and the GOP generally are afraid of the birther issue becoming a ‘Lewinsky’, whereby they are punished for overreach and the president is forgiven in re-election.

I’d think the question is whether the bad economy and deep disagreement with his policies, such as Obamacare, could be combined with this issue—ripe, evidently substantive, but not dealt with—whereby the electorate would choose to simply vote him out of office, rather than go for the deep national division (rioting?) and potential national weakening that a Constitutional response to his apparent fraud would create.

"Why not make it mandatory to provide a birth certificate to prove residency in order to run for president?"

OK I will show my ignorance. I thought that was required when you filed the paper work for the presidency.
It obviously isn't, so we need to make it the law for 2012 and beyond.
Since it's not, what would prevent Arnold from running and just not producing any thing related to his Birth Place?

Although obambi probably dreams of wearing a tutu and tights in public, while standing tip-toe and twirling on the dance-floor, I don't think he's actually going to try it.

Very funny though.
