[T]he company said it expects food cost will rise 2 to 2.5 percent in the U.S. and 3.5 to 4.5 percent in Europe during the year. McDonald's has already raised some prices in the United Kingdom to cover higher costs. The company said as prices for beef and other ingredients and other cost pressures in the U.S. become more pronounced throughout the year, it will likely increase prices to offset some, but not all, of its higher costs.

On a related note: If anyone is planning on buying linens and/or blue jeans in the next few months ... do it now. Cotton settled at $1.62 today, with December, 2011 delivery closing at $1.14. Folks, this is HIGH and shows no sign of slowing down in the near future.

This also affects food prices, both in the form of animal feed from cotton seed and grocery prices for items utilizing cottonseed oil and meats (due to animal feed).

Furniture and other items will be affected later on, as moat (lesser quality cotton fibers) used in stuffing will skyrocket as well.

Raw materials are the smallest cost component in clothes and furniture.

Wow. A company raised prices in response to higher costs. That’s never happened before.

Make the Big Mac 7 dollars....lol..

The illegal aliens McDonald's hires will have to work about 2 hours just to eat lunch at that slop joint. Fry's and a coke? 3 hours.

When I was younger, I used to like to go to the McDonalds to have their Egg McMuffins. Now this was many years ago, way before they cluttered the menu with all the variations of that classic sandwich that you see today. Back in the 1970s, back when Florence Henderson was hot stuff and Richard Simmons was a pop singer named Leo Sayer, if you wanted a breakfast sandwich at the McDonalds, you had one choice and one choice only - Egg McMuffin.

Well, I no longer buy the Egg McMuffin because I make a superior Egg McMuffin at home and here is how I do it:

I take three eggs and fry them in olive oil along with a generous slab of bacon. I then toast a Thomas's english muffin, brush it with olive oil and place thinly sliced layers of Swiss cheese on each side. I then cram in the eggs and bacon. My mouth waters just thinking about it.

Hey. Anyone who doubts inflation, should note that the Whopper Junior sandwich on the Burger King's "Dollar Menu" is now a dollar twentynine.
