The leaders of the New Hampshire Republican Party have spoken, and they have given Mitt Romney the early presidential lead in the Granite State. In the first-of-its-kind straw poll of members of the New Hampshire Republican State Committee, Romney drew 35% of the total vote. Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) came in second with 11%.

The straw poll was conducted in Derry, NH and was sponsored by ABC News and WMUR-TV.

ABC News political director Amy Walter tweeted the results of the poll this afternoon:

Mitt Romney 35.14%

Ron Paul 10.51%

Tim Pawlenty 7.61%

Sarah Palin 6.88%

Michele Bachmann 5.07%

Why is "New Hamster" even a state?

A million people, 1/300 th of the US population, 0.13% Black, 95% white , 1.5% hispanic, and a median income of 60K,this basically suburb of red commie Boston Massachusetts, home of Barney Frank, gets 2 stupid women Senators to match the 2 stupid women from another state that shouldn't be a state, "Maine".

Small wonder the New Hampshire GOP is voting Romney, they are all probably ball less members of GOP Proud to boot.

Mitt Romney (hiding somewhere):
”Now that my Romneycare (funded 65% by US taxpayers)
is law, and our beloved Obama has shown himself to be wonderful,
a little self examination is in order for you stupid FReepers.
You may want to ask yourself
'if I had spent my time promoting
RomneyCare and Mitt Romney, could not
I have today garnered more support
of both pRes_ _ent Obama and Mitt Romney?'

Of the names on that list, which ones do you think would be most likely to be able to raise one billlllllllion dollars or more?

Which is how much The Great And Wonderful Ob has raised. So far.

I don’t see how that would work. Shouldn’t tea be setting on a candidate long before the first primary? Not saying there won’t be some debate on that matter, or some disputes, but aren’t we all really just expecting Palin to run and get most of the tea support, along with Ron Paul - apparently, in NH?

We need to take the WH back.... You may not like some of Romney’s stances and even his religion, but WAKE UP people. We need to have someone that the moderates will vote for in the upcoming Presidential election. Romney may not be the most conservative of the group but he is something that Palin, Newt and company is not and that is ELECTABLE......

This is especially true if you combine him with Rubio from Florida....

Texas needs to have the first GOP primary to take the choosing of candidates out of the hands of the eastern RINOs.

I agree with that statement and I don't live in Texas.

I’ve asked on forum before and haven’t gotten an answer yet. Why can’t Texas have the first primary/caucus?
