Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann, one of the most conservative members of Congress and founder of the Congressional Tea Party Caucus, will deliver an alternative response to President Obamas State of the Union address on Jan. 25th, her office confirmed Friday.
The speech, which will be broadcast online and sponsored by Tea Party Express, a California-based political action committee, will compete with the Republicans official response by Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, chairman of the House Budget Committee.
Tea Party Express announced Bachmanns speech in an e-mail sent to supporters Friday morning.
She’s a very good speaker.
I think this sends the GOP AND the progressive DNC a clear message. The people are more powerful than they are; no matter how much money they have.
I’ll bet my farm she can give a speech without having a teleprompter there up her rear end like obammy has to have,
Good for her! Knock ‘em dead, Michele!
unlike poor Bobby Jindal. LOL
The Republicans have regained a majority in the House, so what is the point of showing disrespect to a Republican leader like Rep. Paul Ryan?
I really dislike these juvenile in-your-face tactics and do not understand what Bachmann hopes to accomplish with this. It is past time to close ranks and get things done in the Congress.
Why interfere with the Repub response? Let people be able to hear two responses to the SOTU...

Agree completely. I also agree with a couple posts earlier that said the response should be after the GOP response, and it should be on C-SPAN at least. Would be nice if it were on Fox.
Agreed.
I seriously doubt that the scheduling is up to Bachmann. It sounds more like the Tea Party Express is jumping the gun. They should wait until after the GOP response.

Kind of ridiculous to broadcast both Bachmann's and Ryan's speeches at the same time, IMO...
She should end it with, “You Betcha” :)
That would make the moonbats go nuts.
I love it! Schedule her address until after the other two, so people can see the real differences. (I’m going to watch all three, no matter what.)
Given prime time TV coverage, this will be an earthshaking moment in American political history!
This will be the first “official” act of the “unofficial” Tea Party movement, and a major step in creating a legitimate third political party! Voters have desperately needed an alternative to big-government Democrats and big-government Republicans, and now they’ll have one!
I can’t wait to read all the speculation about what Michelle will talk about! Do we hammer on the Constitution and warn about hard times to come? Oh what fun this will be!
I agree. I'm big fans of both Ryan and Bachmann... why do their speeches have to "compete"??
LOL excuse me but the track record on closing ranks and getting things done is not very hopeful. This one gets a kickback to hush about that one to get a kickback to shut up to get funds for field mice and road construction and all awhile slush bank accounts for they’re beach houses.
If they were serious they would abolish the amendments to the community reinvestment act for starters.
I want them all working FOR US without the progressive cancer not some GOP sitting with some democratsand standing and sitting and applauding and all of the garbage.
Obama won’t say THE STATE OF THE UNION IS A MESS SO I RESIGN as I get away with abuse of power and many wrongdoings of corruption of the mob and black panthers and ACORN running this country.
So...we have to watch the big dog and pony show of kissy face hand holding because Obama turned a tragedy into a campaign and is going to try to pull a hail mary Clinton pass to the middle to win again.
“The Republicans have regained a majority in the House, so what is the point of showing disrespect to a Republican leader like Rep. Paul Ryan?”
I don’t think it’s disrepectful. It is a bit confrontational. The point is to demonstrate that Tea Party candidates are independent of the GOP fatcat power structure and that Tea Party voters must not be taken for granted.
“I really dislike these juvenile in-your-face tactics and do not understand what Bachmann hopes to accomplish with this.”
She hopes to align her party with her supporters.
“It is past time to close ranks and get things done in the Congress.”
Depends on what things you mean. More of the same-old same-old is not what I want.

Agree.....I’d like to hear both speeches!
Ryan is excellent. What’s with trying to pit one good pol against another? Stupid approach.
