Abortion foe plans Obama challenge
By DAN HIRSCHHORN | 1/18/11 3:00 PM EST
An outspoken anti-abortion activist says he wants to unseat President Barack Obama next year and he wants to do it via the nearly impossible path of a Democratic primary challenge.
Randall Terry, who founded the group Operation Rescue and has been arrested numerous times for his aggressive approach to opposing abortion rights, plans to announce a primary challenge against Obama on Thursday outside the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington.
Besting a sitting Democratic president from far off his right flank is exceedingly unlikely. In an interview with POLITICO, Terry was blunt about being an underdog and said his main goals are to bloody up Obama politically and draw more attention to the abortion fight.
Were going to cause a crisis of conscience for America, Terry said. I will raise millions of dollars and run ads showing aborted babies. Terry predicted his candidacy, which was first reported by Sunshine State News, will draw financial support from across the political spectrum because the thrill of beating Obama up in a Democratic primary is going to be too much to resist.

Civility.
Good idea, Randall.
GO FOR IT!
Operation Chaos II
Great strategy, in my opinion. Get right into the thick of it, and force the issue into midst of the Democrat presidential primary dialog.
geesh...what an idiot! Randall needs to cdoncentrate on abortion instead of running the govt.
Both of those goals are achievable. However, now, about those sticky problems of air-time, exposure, and so forth... best of luck with that. Regular media will shun this.
The internet is the great leveler. That's the best bet.
I think he realizes he doesn't have a prayer of actually winning office. His plan (as I see it) is to raise issues and disrupt status quo, and in that, he could well be successful.
No....he will just marginalize Republicans even more.....everyone knows that NO DEMOCRATS are PRO-LIFE.
Well, I know a few, but you're certainly right on the vast majority. :)
The air-time isn’t the problem. The major networks have to air a candidate’s ads, unedited, within 45 days of the election. They can’t even limit the hours it can be shown. There were ads running during the last election in Washington, DC and the networks couldn’t stop it. They even used their own airtime to explain why they had to show the ads unedited and during prime time. Check out Missy Smith for Congress! It already happened during all sorts of programming including: Oprah, the news, and multiple other prime time shows.
Pro-Life bump
