the government actually claims it can hold hostage people's Social Security payments in order to FORCE those people to accept Medicare enrollment.

The Department of Health and Human Services insists an individual cannot forfeit Medicare eligibility and continue to collect Social Security benefits even after paying into the latter system over an entire career.

I never paid a co-pay or was billed for my yearly lab tests.

What I want to know is how well plans pay off in the long run. Mine paid out over 300,000 for my quintuplet bypass, age 69. I paid 10.00 and 40.00 doctor co-pays. The premium doubled this year but I I doubt even if I wanted to change plans, no one would take me.

My Rx plan from same insurance has a new ‘tier 4’—high cost generics which now includes my generic hormone pills. Was paying 18.00 for 90 day, now 55.00 for 90 day. That’s BS. Hormone pills have never been expensive. Also brand was 58.00 for 90 days—now 92.50.

Anyone wanting to now my plans name can private mail me.

AARP’s most expensive drug plan is now $98 a month.

Your numbers are better than mine, I guess I should have changed my medi-gap this year. It runs over 200 dollars a month. And goes up every year..I should not have been so lazy after seeing what you pay. I figured they were all about the same...Ididn’t sign up for pres. drugs but still won’t Wal-Mart generics do well for me...but then again so far I take very few pres. drugs.

more Diktat from Obamarx’s comrades

Yes, it is a trap. When they cut payments to doctors even farther, many more doctors will stop taking Medicare patients, and if you go to a private doctor you will lose your Social Security.

The folks who refuse medicare will also refuse social “security”.

Yep, there are some folks out there who seek nothing from the fed.gov.

Part A (hospital) is at no charge and mandatory. Parts B (medical) and D (drugs) are optional...you don’t have to take them but you’ll pay if you do.

So that those on medicare who retire in Thailand probably won't be affected. But for those who are not on medicare, doesn't Obamacare force you to get "approved" insurance even if you don't want it and can't afford it?

You could ask for an exemption from Sebelius but unless you have lobbyists or are on Obama's buddy list....

I was given the option of signing up for Part A for which I paid during my entire working career. I declined the rest. I have private insurance which becomes second payor for hospitalization only.

“this country wasn’t founded to give you money. “
Murp wanted the money he paid in returned to him and he’d go away. That sounds good to me, too.

It's in the Medicare booklet. Look it up.
Yes, I was aware of the penalty for taking the Part D option after originally declining it.
I'm not due for MC for almost two years, but decided to investigate during our long winter days.
It's confusing as hell, but quite frankly the gov't website does a pretty good job.

AARP’s most expensive drug plan is now $98 a month.
Wouldn't that be a plan actually offered by an insurance company but endorsed by AARP?

I have helped people research Medicare options. You might be interested in Medicare.gov for next year.

If you look under 'Resource Locator' at the bottom of the page, and click on 'Medigap Policies' you will get a page where you enter your zip. Then a page will display the Medigap plans available in your area. From there you can link to all the companies that offer the specific Medigap plan that you are interested in.

Next comes the tedious part: linking to the individual companies and checking out their prices. [AARP is likely not to be the cheapest plan.]

Withholding medicare isu nconstitutional and not a part of my afgreement with them to take my social security deductons over many years.

They do this and they will launch countless law suits in federal court. The government has a contractual obligation to pay you your money, and if the do not, its actually a form of theft or fraud.

Let tham try. We will end up getting rid of the lot of them. I actually hope they try. It would be the best thing that ever happened to get rid of the left for good.

And its one more reason to repeal the whole damn Obama Care Death Care Bill.

Not in all cases. My DH is a 100% disabled vet. They deduct $110 out of his SS for Medicare A. He is required to be on it in order to keep his Tricare.

He was saying he wanted the monies he’s paid in RETURNED to him.

“Give” was used to signify the changing of hands, not the gesture of rendering a gift.

Actually, I believe there is court precedent that says the government does not HAVE to pay social security benefits.

It makes no sense that they do this. They make it mandatory that you take the Medicare then they demand to be the first payer.
WHY on earth would they do that? When you pay a private insurance company, why would the government even want to pay first leaving 20% of the bill to the private insurance company.

the reason is easy. To make people not buy private insurance and put them out of business so that the government can control all of the health care.

Medical care costs me $1300.00 a month for myself and family. It is getting right out of control. If the government wouldn’t demand Medicare I woudl be paying a lot less.
