Reagan’s doctors and Alzheimer’s specialists have been debunking this myth for years, but no matter how many times they try to explain that occasional memory lapses in an elderly person do not an Alzheimer’s diagnosis make, the narrative rolls on. And it’ll keep rolling, thanks to Ron Jr and the explosive never-before-revealed details in his new book which, per Paul Bedard of U.S. News, … seem not to add up.
Besides playing amateur doctor, Ron Reagan reveals, if true, brain surgery on his dad never before reported. He accurately reports that Reagan, after leaving the presidency, was bucked from a horse on July 4, 1989, while in Mexico. Ron tells of how his dad, after initially refusing medical help, was transported to a San Diego hospital. “Surgeons opening his skull to relieve pressure on the brain emerged from the operating room with the news that they had detected what they took to be probable signs of Alzheimer’s disease.” Several Reagan associates, however, say there was no surgery in San Diego.
What’s more there is no reporting about any San Diego operation on Reagan. News reports at the time of his fall say Reagan was flown to a hospital in Arizona, where he was treated for scrapes and bruises and released after five hours…
Ron Reagan doesn’t mention this, but says that Reagan visited the Mayo Clinic in 1990 for tests that “confirmed the initial suspicion of Alzheimer’s.” Reagan’s post-presidency history, documented in several archives like University of Texas, reveal no such visit. And Dr. John E. Hutton Jr. his doctor from 1984 through Reagan’s retirement, told the New York Times that Reagan didn’t show the tell-tale symptoms until 1993.
Follow the link and you’ll see that another big piece of “evidence” is Ron feeling his heart sink as he watched his pop stumble through a bad, “bewildered” performance in his first debate with Mondale in 1984. Quote: “Some voters were beginning to imagine grandpawho can never find his reading glassesin charge of a bristling nuclear arsenal, and it was making them nervous. Worse, my father now seemed to be giving them legitimate reason for concern.” That was October 7, 1984; a month later, the “concern” had turned into a 49-state landslide.
Here’s former Reagan advisor David Gergen telling Ron, as gently as he can: Stop.
Ron Reagan Jr., the great geriatric diagnostician. Why would I not listen to him?
Even if he had alzhiemers, he was still 1000x the president this pretender is
He inherited high unemployment, radically high interest rates, low national pride, active terrorist nations, and a raging cold war with a real adversay. He left office with low unemployment, a booming economy, national pride at an all time high, built a military the strength of which has never been seen, and won the cold war. He also set the stage for 10 years of economic prosperity
This moron has done the exact opposite
Facts... pesky little rascals
Ronald Reagan’s 100th birthday is just three weeks away (Feb. 6), kicking off a year of commemorations. Now every printed article and piece of commentary will begin with Ron’s calumny against his father. Selecting this time for his “revelation” shows me young Ronny wants to shine his father’s spotlight in his own direction.
This perpetual "kid" is a buffoon and is always looking for ways to make money off being the son of a great man. May his tutu spring an embarrassing rip next time he's dancing.
vaudine
A. Man from California with Alzheimer’s.
B. Kenyan with 2 ivy league degrees.
Which one is not qualified to be President?
Ron picked as the cover shot the only photo I’ve ever seen in which Ronaldus lokks even the slightest bit nancy.
This was pretty much the end of us seeing him speak politically. It was the time when Clinton-Gore was campaigning against the ‘ Reagan-Bush ‘ decade and Reagan reminds us of the Carter days and his eight years..
Remember "‘ They (Democrats at their 1992 convention) kept saying we won the cold war, I couldnt help wonder who exactly they mean by we?‘?
Reagan was more lucid on that day than every democrat in America.
And even years later as he lay dying I bet he was more lucid than his misbegotten spawn ever was.
God only knows how much heartbreak those two misfits, Ron and Patty Reagan, have brought to their parents/
Reagan was in the early stages in 1994 when he announced that he had the disease.
He turned 70!! two weeks after he was inaugurated. I’ve never met a man in his 70’s who isn’t a bit doddery and forgetful. It goes with the age. But his mind was still very sharp.
It was likely when he hit his head on a rock after a fall from a horse that triggerd the alzheimers to accelerate.
Ron Reagan and his sister are despicable vermin.
Michael Reagan, the son Ronald Reagan chose, is a great man.
Republicans believe every day is July 4th, but Democrats believe every day is April 15th. - Ronald Reagan
What a pathetic loser of a human being this “child” is.
And absolute waste of oxygen.
It’s easy to attack a person who isn’t around to defend himself anymore. But when it’s your own FATHER that you’re attacking, it shows even more what a useless, contemptible POS this “boy” is. Typical liberal scum...
GOd bless President Reagan, a man, a Patriot, a REAL President...and an AMERICAN first and always. I live out the rest of my life much richer for having been alive during the time he was President, and I will always remember how he raised up a country that was being systematically dismantled by the Democrats and their communist allies from within.
I will ALWAYS look back fondly, and with much respect and gratitude, for what this fine gentleman Patriot CinC did, in eight too-short years, for everything I love and held dear.
President Reagan was a MAN - something that this pathetic little worm offspring can NEVER be.
I’ll take this child’s book for exactly what it is - toilet paper, written by a useless disappointment of a human being who was nothing more than a heartache for a fine set of parents.
The had excerpts from Ron in today’s Parade magazine.
It was clear from the excerpt that Ron’s has realised the people love his father, and so rather than trying to stop that like he used to, he now is going to try to re-write history.
His excerpt was all about how people liked his dad IN SPITE of his politics, instead of because of them. It was all anecdotes; it was making fun of his father, showing him as weak, scared, and not altogether there. It portrays his victories as the result of good acting.
It is a shameful excerpt, for what is probably a shameful book.
He has one paragraph where he claims he would “hold his own” in political arguments with his dad, and that his dad would say he felt stupid after talking to Ron. (in other words, that his father said Ron was a lot smarter than he was). Then Ron plays the sympathy card saying he never intended to make his father feel stupid.
Like I said, a shameful re-write of history after the guy is dead, very self-aggrandizing. He puts a picture in the Parade magazine article of Reagan and Ron as a young kid on the beach, and says that girls were always oggling the “two of them” because of their “manly physiques”. Ron and Manly — something you never really expect to see written together.
If he’s wrong, he’s insulting his dad’s memory. If he’s right...the left got beat two presidential terms in a row by a guy who was going senile for most of that time, they were that lame. This is good news for them? How?
Can’t improve on that post if I wanted to.....well said.
Stay Safe....
Thanks brother. Good to hear from you, as always.
I just went on Youtube and pulled up a couple of Reagan’s speeches.
What an amazing effect, still. Hearing his voice, as though he were still President. He’s an example for all future Presidents (if we make it through this current nightmare).
This current douchebag is also an example - of what a President ISN’T.

Always time well spent reflecting on times when America was strong....

Like Michael, Maureen also had followed in her father’s footsteps.
It’s sad that Ron and Patti have taken public shots at their father over the years. This book will be used by liberals to reinforce to fallacy that President Reagan suffered from Alzheimer’s while in office.
I’m sure the MSNBC line will follow this template.....”So, Mr. (insert name) Conservative, you claim to know more about President Reagan’s condition than his own son?”
