n the wake of the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, today Sen. Barbara Boxer called for federal regulations on concealed weapons permits, according to the Associated Press and the Los Angeles Times.

Arizona law allows any U.S. citizen 21 or older to carry a concealed weapon without a permit.

“The kind of gun laws we have here in California that give people their gun ownership rights while also preventing the sale of guns to criminals, to people with serious mental illness and people who may abuse a spouse or partner,” said the California Democrat at a press conference in Riverside.

Brrrrrr! No, CongressHo, the laws don't "give us our rights" they're just supposed to respect them. But thanks for playing! Next!

She’s the poster child for the repeal of the 17th Amendment.

What’s the good of passing laws when the law is not enforced. The nutjob in Tucson ought to have been out into custody before he went out and bought a gun. He would have been if the college, the police and the Sheriff had enforced the lqw.

You can. Under federal law you are allowed to transport any firearm thru New York as long as it is legal where you left and legal where your going. The one catch is that you can not stop driving anywhere in NY. Gas up and hit the John before the state line, and then your good to go.

An addendum, It is only a 20 minute drive from NJ to CT. So you will not be in NY very long.

No, she's not. The California legislature is even farther left than the voters. The only possibility they might not send her to Washington is if they think she's too conservative.

Thanks for getting it right.
But I'm disappointed in my fellow FReepers. The previous 41 posts didn't catch that gem of hers.

Excuse the day late reply.

“The kind of gun laws we have here in California that give people their gun ownership rights while also preventing the sale of guns to criminals, to people with serious mental illness and people who may abuse a spouse or partner,”

This Statement in and of itself would make it Illegal For 90% of the Police in California to own a Firearm, and All of the Elected Officials in the State also.

What we really need is Speech Control. I say anytime a Journalist or Public Official makes a Deliberate false or Misleading Statement and Profits monetarily or legislatively from it, They shall be GUILTY OF A FELONY, Punishable by a mandatory 5 years in prison.

Doesn’t this half wit live in DC? With very restrictive gun laws? Hey, Boxer take a ride around DC this Saturday night. Without your security. Perfectly safe. Guns are outlawed there.

I didn’t realize that the laws in California gave people the right to own and carry guns. In West Virginia we rely on the Constitution.

Thanks again to John Cornyn who backed Carly Fiorina instead of Larry Elder who actually might have won the election.

The Constitution PROHIBITS the federal government from restricting the right of self defense or firearms or any other "arms".

It's only by logical extension that the 14th Amendment makes the Second applicable to the states.

Before that happened (just recently too) the states, individually, had the sole constitutional authority to restrict the right of self defense, et al.

There are a lot of state laws out there that are INCONSISTENT with the most recent ruling on the extension of the Second to the states.

So, what was it you were saying? Were you trying to correct my grammar or make a political point as if I were some sort of Leftwingtard idiot?

"em's fight'n words boy ~ you get over here and 'splain what you said.

No insult goes unchallenged these days doncha' know!
