Sarah Palin, who had been silent for days, on Wednesday issued a forceful denunciation of her critics in a video statement that accused pundits and journalists of “blood libel” in their rush to blame heated political rhetoric for the shootings in Arizona.
“Acts of monstrous criminality stand on their own,” she said in a video posted to her Facebook page. “Especially within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence that they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible.”
Ms. Palin’s use last year of a map with crosshairs hovering over a number of swing districts, including that of Gabrielle Giffords, had increasingly become the symbol of that overheated rhetoric. In and interview with The Caucus on Monday, potential 2012 rival Tim Pawlenty, the former Republican governor of Minnesota, said he would not have produced such a map.
But in the video, Ms. Palin rejected criticism of the map, casting it as a broader indictment of the basic political rights of free speech exercised by people of all political persuasions.
She said that acts like the shootings in Arizona “begin and end with the criminals who commit them, not collectively with all the citizens of a state.”
“Not with those who listen to talk radio,” she added. “Not with maps of swing districts used by both sides of the aisle. Not with law abiding citizens who respectfully exercise their first amendment rights at campaign rallies. Not with those who proudly voted in the last election.”

Partially correct - “Blood libel” refers to the medieval Christian accusation that Jews killed Christian children and used their blood for matzos. But, today it is often used to describe False Accusations, which is the way Sarah used it.

of the left in trying to cash in on the tragedy will be boiled down to two descriptive words of their attempted assignment of blame and attacked !!
Several conservative Jewish writers used the term in this context this week, but you are right in that some of the accused will claim that it is historically an accusation against Jews killing non-Jewish children in something of a Jewish sacrifice.

stand up against the media and call them out.
She has been libeled. Which I know is almost impossible to prove against a ‘public figure.’ Yet, she was specifically mentioned (repeatedly) by name...WITH NO EVIDENCE THAT THE ACTUAL PERP EVER READ HER WORKS OR FOLLOWED HER POLITICS.

Welcome to the enlightened modern world, where blood libels are only aimed at that small, recidivist section of the population who don't believe in socialism. Surely we can agree those people deserve whatever they get /lib
False accusations by which the accused are said to have at least metaphorical blood on their hands—which was exactly the case here.

Indeed, it is. It’s an attack not only on Palin, Rush et. al, but on everything who listens to them or thinks like them.
In other words, it’s a full frontal attack on all of US.
She has a way of crystallizing a meme.
Death panels and blood libel are perfect, like cut diamonds, in the war of words.
Impossible to ignore, hard to refute.
She just slapped the MSM across the face, in public. She knows they must react, and defend their “blood libel.” She knows how to shape the ideological battlefield to force the libs to fight on her ground. It’s brilliant.
