FYI -
Here are statements from Jim about the future of FreeRepublic.com for those who missed them. They are quite serious.
===
"Well, I can say that there are definitely two things that will never happen. 1) Banner ads. 2) Oracle [a completely new database system.] And a third is a total replacement [of the current damaged system.] Dont have the financial wherewithal."
"To those who wish to leave because of it, see ya."
"If FR dies, thats that."

Hey, you want us to get an all new system with all new software and add a few more pricey techs, system programmers and database administrators to keep it all working 100% of the time 24/7/365? Well, start coughing up the big bucks.
Its going to take tens of thousands of donations and many with at least three zeros each after the comma to accomplish the task. And that would be EVERY month like clock work to make the payroll. Once you take on a big load of expensive overhead, theres no going back. As it is, we get a couple thousand donations per quarter averaging about $30 bucks each and theres no guarantees we can cover this quarters expenses much less next quarter. Were on a pay as we go system and we have zero employees. We just ask for enough to pay the bills.
Throwing more money at the problem wont solve it. [This latest glitch] was a technical issue and we just had to keep troubleshooting until we found it. And no, were not going to invite a bunch of strangers in to get their hands on our secure systems. John has been programming since he was 14 and hes pushing 40 now. He built these systems and hes an expert in them.
And no, we are not going to throw out our software and rewrite it and no were not going to move on to some other database system. There are no guarantees that any other system can do a better job and not without hiring a staff to build and maintain it and thats for sure. And we dont have the financial wherewithal to do any of that anyway. Maybe if we had a couple million bucks at our disposal and a couple years to do it in we could build an iron-clad system. And maybe not.
All I can say is, if someone else can do it better and cheaper, then please step right on up and get er done!! Ill bow out and retire. Thankyouverymuch.

And no, we have no plans of taking FR commercial. I like it the way it is. Not sure I could handle getting rich.

John, I don’t know how I got you involved in this, I was not the one who evoked the BLOGLORD, the michigan thing did.
John, I don’t know how I got you involved in this, I was not the one who invoked the BLOGLORD, the michigan thing did.
LOL.
As I have always done in the past, I support any decisions you make here, and will continue my support in every way this feeble old vet can.

Thanks - that clears things up.
yep.
Sorry, I didn’t write the Bible.
FWIW, I am not ‘holier than thou’, I know that I am (as Paul says) ‘the Chief of Sinners’, but I am also a sinner saved by grace who miraculously was delivered from a very destructive cult and am called to tell others my story.
In conclusion let us summarize this grand key, these Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet, for our salvation depends on them.
1. The prophet is the only man who speaks for the Lord in everything.
2. The living prophet is more vital to us than the standard works.
3. The living prophet is more important to us than a dead prophet.
4. The prophet will never lead the church astray.
5. The prophet is not required to have any particular earthly training or credentials to speak on any subject or act on any matter at any time.
6. The prophet does not have to say Thus Saith the Lord, to give us scripture.
7. The prophet tells us what we need to know, not always what we want to know.
8. The prophet is not limited by mens reasoning.
9. The prophet can receive revelation on any matter, temporal or spiritual.
10. The prophet may advise on civic matters.
11. The two groups who have the greatest difficulty in following the prophet are the proud who are learned and the proud who are rich.
12. The prophet will not necessarily be popular with the world or the worldly.
13. The prophet and his counselors make up the First Presidencythe highest quorum in the Church.
14. The prophet and the presidencythe living prophet and the First Presidencyfollow them and be blessedreject them and suffer.
I testify that these fourteen fundamentals in following the living prophet are true. If we want to know how well we stand with the Lord then let us ask ourselves how well we stand with His mortal captainhow close do our lives harmonize with the Lords anointedthe living ProphetPresident of the Church, and with the Quorum of the First Presidency.

No worries, I ain’t even understanding that post.
I understand what you’re saying but as I said before, every byte of space on FR is now dedicated to conservatism and info and not commercialism. It’s clean and east to navigate. Keep in mind that we do have older posters that would find ads confusing. Right now FR is very user friendly.
Jim. Whatever it takes for you to do this and make a living. I will never begrudge you a penny of income and hope you do well enough to at least be comfortable (I am not asking for an answer on that, I just want you to know my thinking).
I know that I can only give a small amount per month now but I will increase it by half come February.
I think you know that FR has become the premier conservative web site in the Country, and possibly the world and most of us would do anything, legal that is, to ensure it remains viable and want you to have a decent life to boot.
Take care and God bless you and your family of hard working patriots.
Abortionists, homosexualists, wacko environmentalists, militant feminists, pacifists, gun-grabbers, globalists, statists, liberals, progressives, socialists, communists, Marxists, traitors, cowards, RINOs, and other assorted and sundry leftist or political whores can all stay the hell off of FR!!

I’m sure that only discussing your faith with those who share it 100% is what God has commanded you to do.

Not even close. God has commanded me to share my faith with those who are lost, and those who are ignorant of the tricks and traps that cults use, tricks I once fell for.
I don’t hang around people who agree 100% with me religiously, the Flying inmans are made up of a broad group of Christians, Catholics, several protestant denoms, ex-mormons, never mormons, evangelicals. We don’t always agree on doctrine and we don’t have to.
But we DO all agree on the basic tenets of Christianity, the person work and nature of Jesus Christ, something the Mormons do NOT do.
Happy Birthday, by the way!
Oh yeah. And sitting in someone's living room. :-/
I love pics of babies in Daddy’s hands. It’s a statement on life. Or the way life should be.
Never heard of him.
Yes, its annoying when someone makes a post and then never returns. I’ve seen others, besides bloggers do this as well.
