Agree with your post from personal observations in jury selection process.
It’s amazing what goes on in those courts to rig things for the outcome they want. Seems most folks just nod their heads, and go along with it all because they just want to get their jury duty done, and over with. Those of us that think, and are contrary to the Leftist instruction in the courts are looked upon with blank expressions by the other potential jurists, and with great disdain by the court.
It’s an awful experience.
It will be overturned on appeal. The law he was convicted for didn’t even exist when he forwarded donations to the RNC. Typical Texas Democrats pretending they care about the law.
Its total BS. A Democrat judge convicts him of a crime that didn’t even exist when he transferred donations from one account to another. It will be thrown out on appeal.
Thanks, Deb. We are really devolving to a nation that no longer has justice.
With each of their victories, we can expect several attempts to criminalize prominent Republicans.
From Wikipedia:
The United States Capitol shooting incident of 1998 was an attack on July 24, 1998 which led to the death of two United States Capitol Police officers. Detective John Gibson and Officer Jacob Chestnut were killed when Russell Eugene Weston Jr. entered the Capitol and opened fire.[1] Chestnut was killed instantly and Gibson died during surgery at George Washington University Hospital but not before wounding Weston, who survived. Weston's exact motives are unknown, but he does suffer from a mental disorder and maintains a strong distrust of the federal government. He remains in a mental institution due to paranoid schizophrenia and has yet to be tried in court.
Personally, I don’t think Traficant did anything that 90% of the rest of them don’t do.
Trouble was, Traficant went after the high-rollers and p’d some of them off...
Traficant also used to speak out against Bill Clinton on the floor of the House big time.
Delay was no crook.
The Judge should be in jail. What a jackass.
And the 0bamas got an FHA loan on their Chicago house that was $900,000+ over the legal limit, and they are in the White House.
DeLay’s a piker.
It just makes you shake your head and wonder how America will ever survive.
That is a good idea....funny how my phone is right here too. Thanks!!!
How about Barney Frank and his tax evasions...
I don’t condone any Republican acting in a criminal manner, but I remain unconvinced this isn’t a kangaroo court down there in Texas.
This prosecutor brought a number of cases before the court before one wasn’t tossed out. Why was he allowed to get away with that? After the third or fourth one, I would have charged him with contempt and blocked any future cases against the same defendant.
I also remain unconvinced that Delay did anything that isn’t common practice on Capital Hill. And when the DNC got those hundreds of thousands of dollars from Chinese officials, who went to prison over it?
Delay was very effective on Capital Hill as the Republican Whip. That was his real crime IMO.
Agreed Deb. It’s not healthy IMO.
I called Governor Perry’s office and basically got the run-around.
The lady was polite, but she told me that I needed to contact the Texas Board of Appeals if I wanted Delay pardoned. She stated that Perry can’t pardon someone without their recommendation.
I said, “Well, they’re not going to listen to me are they?” She didn’t respond on point. I said this left me rather frustrated. She said she was sorry, and that she would pass along my thoughts to the governor. If she does, I guess that’s reasoned.
I may be wrong, but I doubt that it is true that he can only pardon upon recommendation. He may not want to pardon without cover, but it is his prerogative I would suspect.
The 800 number you provided is for Texan’s only. The switchboard number was (512) 463-1782. It allows for you to select comment line or live body.
The Board of Appeals number is (512) 936-6351.
Innocent (D)
No matter the charges or evidence.
I'm tired of this law-for-thee-but-not-for-me serfdom.
Put down your copy of the New York Times and check out the details of the (trumped-up) case against DeLay.
Yet, Charles Rangle sits in Congress today having committed and having been found guilty (at least by his peers) egregious crimes of abuse of office, with money or other benefits going directly to him.
No double standard here... /sarc
