Wilmington, Delaware (CNN) -- Police have found homicide victim John Wheeler's cell phone, according to a taxi driver who was interviewed by investigators this week.

Athel Scott told CNN National Correspondent Susan Candiotti that police told him they found the cab driver's number in the phone of Wheeler, the former Pentagon official who was found dead in a Delaware landfill. He said investigators wanted to know how his number got there. Scott... says he told the police he didn't have any idea.

"I never got a call from the man. I don't know him... He's never been in my cab. I don't know how my number got in his cellphone," Scott says he told police...

How far away from his home were the witnesses and the pharmacy? The dumpster was 7 miles away from the pharmacy but how far away from his home?

Did the LE verify the phone was at the neighbors? I took the phone’s location was just a flippant remark from his friend about he was too smart to leave his phone at a crime scene aka the smoke bombs.

Wheeler’s murder won’t be dropped if thousands upon thousands of Vietnam vets demand that it be solved!!!

Amen! This is the war that will never be over, because the leftie politicians like Kerry and Kennedy surrendered, but the soldiers won it on the ground. The Vietnam war is looking more and more like Civil War II.

Excellent analysis there in post 42. Radell is right; the press keeps focusing on superficial fluff (red herrings) and not even bothering to work out the sheer implausibility of many elements of the smokescreen that is being created by or fed to the media.

My sincere condolences, DaveTesla. One trip to the Wall will send most patriots to their knees. Then, add the great work he did in setting up his numerous foundations as well as turning around enterprises that were in trouble. Men like him do not come around often. I join you in a great sense of loss.

My question is how does [the cabbie] remember seeing him twice at different locations on different days?

To me that seems absolutely plausible. A cabbie would be very familiar with all public destinations in his route, and would also have a memory for the faces of the people in his area -- cabbies need to scan people instantly as to whether they would be a danger in the cab, would want to be driven to a dangerous location, would use drugs in the cab oir try to rob them -- or would be a fast, clean fare, a good tipper going to a good location where there would be other fares waiting.

A man of intelligence and energy like Wheeler, with good looks and quality clothing, would emanate intensity and would be memorable even in passing. Plus, the cabbie himself was a veteran, and would unconsciously respond to Wheeler's military bearing.

I tried to google Does sodium pentathol cause blood shot eyes?
There was mention of it as a possibility of sodium pentathol a s the reason for Wheeler’s behavior.

NO results will come up in search for those search terms.
Shivering is listed as a side effect.

The cameras just happen to be in view of security cameras (Back entrances etc) The other evening one of the reporters stood beside one of the containers as he was giving his report. If the reporter was six foot tall the top of the container was higher than that, sloping to about five feet. Difficult lift for a dead body. Not easy for any person to get into.

My nephew drives a truck for local company. All of the containers are the same to fit the lifting devise attached to the truck. The container looked very similar. The are not designed for dumpster diving, but tend to have very high walls with large lids. Many are attached/placed below shoots where the bags actual fall from higher positions. The shoots are too small for a person the size of Wheeler to be disposed.

Wish we had a person on the groud to check out the facilities etc.

It would take a couple of people to lift a man as large as Wheeler and put him in the container.

would have had some of trash from the container next to it. Material from a bank, restaurant, nursing home would be completely different.

He was obviously disoriented, but apparently not brain-dead.

John said he was mugged...and he looked it...Let's take his word for it...

I think he hitched a ride. Assuming he had on a topcoat, he took it off and laid it on the seat and held onto his briefcase. They pulled off the road (Route 9)...cut the lights and mugged and robbed him. When he recovered a bit...he walked north along the highway.

If I was LE, I'd walk the highway.

It's 6 miles from the Pharmacy to Wilmington. Unless he was a regular Marathon runner, no way did he make it in 40 minutes....6.6 min/mile...and he wasn't out of breath in the video. I'm betting he walked less than 2 miles.

Why are all the garbage bins under video surveillance?

For situations just like this; and also to prosecute illegal dumping, such as houses under construction or people throwing away mattresses by using a restaurant's costly rented dumpster. People also attempt to dump unwanted newborns, as well as weapons used in robberies or murders.

My point is, he did not crawl into a dumpster of his own volition. See post 91.

I tried to see if there was a number posted on the outside of Scott's cab. The chances of Scott knowing it was him "on two different occasions" and in two different outfits is almost impossible.

I disagree - to me it seems entirely plausible. See post 88.

Super busy day for me so fr time is small now, shouldn’t even be on here. Didn’t he say someone took it? Did he say exactly ‘mugged’? I can’t remember.

This is all an opinion:

John was mugged between 6:00 and 6:40 after he hitched a ride for Wilmington. John saw his muggers. There was something distinctive either about them or the vehicle or both. He wanted his briefcase and to find the little pr****.

On the 30th, and under the cover of darkness, dressed like a "hoodie" himself, he started back for the area where he was mugged to perhaps recover his briefcase. He was carrying.

But they saw him coming....and ambushed him....

Either they stabbed him or shot him or bashed in his head.

Very sad...

IIRC, he said robbed.

I don't think he ever mentioned his cell phone. His brief case with his parking ticket...
