Wilmington, Delaware (CNN) -- Police have found homicide victim John Wheeler's cell phone, according to a taxi driver who was interviewed by investigators this week.
Athel Scott told CNN National Correspondent Susan Candiotti that police told him they found the cab driver's number in the phone of Wheeler, the former Pentagon official who was found dead in a Delaware landfill. He said investigators wanted to know how his number got there. Scott... says he told the police he didn't have any idea.
"I never got a call from the man. I don't know him... He's never been in my cab. I don't know how my number got in his cellphone," Scott says he told police...

WILMINGTON, Del. - February 17, 2011 (WPVI) — A slain ex-Pentagon official, whose body was found in a Delaware landfill, will be buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.
The News Journal of Wilmington reports that the funeral for 66-year-old John Wheeler III will include a procession in a horse-drawn carriage and his cremated remains will be laid to rest in a columbarium at the Virginia cemetery.
The newspaper says a spokeswoman at the cemetery confirmed the funeral would begin at 9 a.m. on April 29.
A neighbor told The News Journal that Wheeler’s family held a private service for him back in January.
Wheeler was a driving force behind the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and had worked in three presidential administrations.
His body was found among trash being dumped at a Wilmington landfill on Dec. 31. A medical examiner determined Wheeler died of blunt trauma injuries after being assaulted.
Newark police also said they still have no suspects in Wheeler’s slaying.

"Another part of the story concerns a house under construction across the street from where Wheeler lived.
Wheeler was caught up in a vigorous legal dispute with the builders of that home, which some neighbors have characterized as a bed-and-breakfast in the making.
Ms. Klyce has continued to pursue the case after her husband's death, still hoping that the house can be torn down."

Other thoughts come from Wheeler's wife, Katherine Klyce, in an interview she gave to Slate.com. The family has offered a $25,000 reward, but she said, "I think perhaps no one has been on the reward because they've already been paid."
"The way they disposed of his body, it's a miracle anybody ever found it. That just sounds like a pro to me," she said.
Thomas McInerney, a retired Air Force officer, told ABC News: "A man with that experience, it could have been foul play to get some of the secrets he had."
I have been preoccupied with my back yard and new developments regarding the false accuser in the Duke lax frame-up. I did remember the funeral service on the 29th.
It is comforting to know he has reached his final resting place.
I am starting to read the Lessig articles now. I thought perhaps we would be hearing more from him after his blog posting several months ago I am glad he delivered.

Saw the news last night with his wife and son.They said he was taking his meds,nothing of value was stolen from him and he was afraid in the video at the car park place.
Thanks, a couple of interesting things I found in the article that I had not known about. I think it was a hit, but the question remains: why?
•The next morning, Dec. 30, a neighbor looking after the Wheelers’ New Castle home noticed an open window and entered to find the house in disarray — chairs and plants tipped over, Wheeler’s West Point cadet sword lying unsheathed on the kitchen floor. It would have been unlike Wheeler to leave a mess, Klyce says, calling it “kind of strange.” But if it was a burglary, she adds, nothing was taken.
•Later that day, Wheeler was seen at a Wilmington office building, where he asked at least one person for a ride to Philadelphia. He looked like he had slept in his clothing but seemed coherent, witnesses said. That night, cameras at a nearby hotel captured him walking toward a rough neighborhood in a dark hooded sweatshirt, tugging the hood over his head. “It looked to me like he was trying to hide his face,” Klyce says. “It wasn’t his clothing.”
Thank you for reminding us of this murder and lack of MSM coverage. Reminds us of the Vince Foster murder and the reality that justice was “never” served!
All Vietnam veterans should be screaming about this miscarriage of justice and should be demanding the murderer(s) be found.
Wonder what happened to the story about the crazy charges on HER charge card. Plane to Brazil?? or something like that...but neer said for 1 or 2.
