Obama would easily win Nevada again...except against Romney
Public Policy Polling ^ | 01/07/2011 | Tom Jensen

Barack Obama would easily take Nevada if he had to stand for reelection today...unless the Republicans nominated Mitt Romney. Obama has early double digit advantages against Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, and Sarah Palin in the state but has just a single point edge over Romney.

Nevada is one of the few swing states we've polled in the last couple months where more voters approve (50%) than disapprove (46%) of Obama. Like everywhere else in the country Democrats are largely happy with him and Republicans are most unhappy- what sets apart his numbers in Nevada is his popularity with independents, 55% of whom approve of him with 41% disapproving.

Independents in the state may like Obama but they like Romney even more, giving him a 58/28 favorability rating. That's quite a contrast to how they feel about other the leading Republican contenders in the state. Huckabee's favorability with them is 38/50, Palin's is 28/61, and Gingrich actually occupies the basement in this state at 26/65.

Obama's lead over Romney is 47/46. That goes up to 10 points over Huckabee at 50/40, 11 over Gingrich at 51/40, and 13 over Palin at 52/39. Independents explain most of the difference between how Romney does compared to the rest of the Republicans here as well. Obama dominates most of the Republican field with them- a 22 point lead over Palin, a 23 point one over Huckabee, and a 27 point one over Gingrich. But Romney actually has an 11 point lead over Obama with them and that's the reason he's running neck and neck overall.

Of the battleground states where we've polled 2012 so far, Nevada has the biggest disparity in the GOP's chances of winning depending on who their nominee is. The only other state where there was greater than a 5 point difference between how one Republican did and the rest of them was Michigan, where Romney came to within 4 points of Obama with Huckabee the next closest at 12 points.

Given the direction the state is headed in, it may be a long time before a Republican wins Nevada in a race that's competitive nationally- it may go red only in instances where it's a GOP landslide across the country. The Senate race this year showed that Republicans have to be very careful about who they nominate if they want to win in Nevada and recent history doesn't suggest that's something they're particularly inclined to do.

I am starting to wonder if the left is deliberately creating mayhem at FR by posting articles/opinions about Mormons

Well, I'm busted.

Soros pays me $100.00 for every reference to magic underpants.

This has much to do with the fact the I often reference magic underpants.

In fact, sometimes I reference magic underpants several times in each post.

Wonder no more.

MORMON articles are either started by MORMONs; hoping to paint their heretic 'church' in a positive light,
or,
by Christians who are no longer going to let the MORMONs control the language and the spotlight.

Don't worry about the poor, offended MORMONs.

They will toe the line and vote CONSERVATIVE once again; no matter how much their poor little feelings get hurt by the truth they wish would just go away.

We’re already being accused of being a Moron hate site.

I don't hate MORONs!

Watch the MORMON reaction to anything they consider NEGATIVE about their 'church'.

They will accuse, Accuse, ACCUSE!! all day long, and then not be able to produce ANY evidence of their accusations.

But I am starting to wonder if the left is deliberately creating mayhem at FR by posting articles/opinions about Mormons knowing that it will create divisiveness amongst conservative

Of course, this assumes there's no faultline that already runs underneath Salt Lake City.

Did you know that for 180 years Lds have called ALL Christians & Christian sects...
..."Apostates" (how is that different than Muslims calling Christians "infidels"?)
..."corrupt" (see Pearl of Great Price, Joseph Smith - History, vv. 18-20 below)
...And ALL their creeds an "abomination"???

Does the following 1820s original vision of Joseph Smith, which a later generation of Mormons converted into Lds "scripture," sound like Kum Ba Yah hugging and embracing of Christians?

18 My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong)—and which I should join.
19 I was answered that I must join
NONE of them,
for they were ALL wrong;
and the [UNNAMED] Personage who addressed me said that

ALL their creeds were an abomination in his sight;
that those professors were ALL corrupt... (Joseph Smith - History, vv. 18-19, Pearl of Great Price)

There ya go: If that wasn't enough of a scorched earth Smith policy, he then went on to label all Christians and Christian sects/denominations as "apostates." (But I s'pose that wasn't "divide and conquer" strategy in your eyes, eh?)

Here the founder of Mormonism essentially tossed all Christians into one gigantic graveyard, and tried to erect a new religion on top of it.

Let's face it, if Smith's "diagnosis" of Christians was wrong, that ALL didn't commit apostasy, then no need existed for him or his restoration-from-scratch.

Mormons have had a tough road to hoe: If they stay faithful to Smith, they need to label ALL us Christians as...
...heart-wandering,
...power-lacking,
...putrid creed-adopting,
...corrupt-professing,
..."apostates"
...who fill the pews of the "Church of the Devil" (Book of Mormon, 1 Nephi 14:9-10)

But if they want to come across as "civil" and "tolerant" and not be guilty of bigotry by judging us all in one lump sum like Smith did -- and then still try to "get along" as a 2% religious minority in this country -- and latch on to Christians opposing liberals, socialism & the Democrats, then they can't be 100% true-believing Mormons, after all...because then they'd have to reject the founding vision upon which Mormonism is based.

...mayhem...

That's right...only it was Joseph Smith who started it a LONG time ago!

That "you must be liberal hacks" is sooooo lds. These discussions are generally on the Religion Forum not interested just stick to the News Forums.
psst, most, meaning the majority of what is posted come directly from lds owned press.

By a guy who got kicked off FR for blog pimping and trying to convince people to not give money to FR because HE (Greg West) doesn’t believe in free speech.

Frankly, I am tried of having my conservative credentials questioned because I happen to speak the truth about a pseudo-Christian cult and believe that I am called, because I used to be Mormon before I became a Christian, to share my experiences and knowledge and to help others leave or avoid the clutches of Mormonism (and we have had several here on FR).

I’m wondering how many of these LDS sympathizers are in fact liberals who want to see Romney get the nomination (despite their protests to the contrary) because they know Romney will lose in a general election, even against Obama.

You ain't seen nuthin' yet. The more Pro-Romney threads that go up on FR, the more mormon posts that will go up on those threads.

If you don't think the mormon church is not backing Romney and now the liberal Jon Huntsman for POTUS, I have a mosque to sell you in Salt Lake City...oh WAIT!

Muslims and Latter-day Saints

Note: see post 182 for an idea of why the thread was locked.

If any of you has missed Jim Robinson's opinion of Romney support on FR, here's an example...Romney’s hands and teeth are drenched in blood. Innocent blood.
