“The only difference between an Epiphone Les Paul and a Gibson Les Paul, is that the Gibson is made by HAND in the USA. (That’s what I play!)”

I could be wrong on this, but I think Gibsons also get better electronics than Epiphones in most cases. I do know for a fact that this is true for Fender, vis-a-vis Mexican made and American made instruments.

To this day, the most expensive electric guitar I’ve ever played was a Les Paul Standard. It was tagged for $3000 and for some reason Guitar Center had it sitting where it could be easily reached. :) It was nice, but IMO it wasn’t an extra $1600 of nice over my PRS.

I am off tomorrow! Yippee!! I have a list of stuff to do. One of my goals this new year is to clean out the clutter in my room and computer area; also to work on the list of things that I need to stockpile, like candles, matches, mac and cheese, batteries, bottled water, toilet paper, etc. And lots of paperwork to shred...

We are faced with the possibility of rain tomorrow...NOOOOOOOO!!!

Perhaps the electronics are better in the Gibson. You are probably correct about that.

My LP listed for $4000, but I got it for $995.

My fingers fly on the fretboard like silken wings. I have never played a guitar like that.

I have owned several Epiphones over the years and loved them...but my Gibson Les Paul is so precious to me!

I’m not much of a Les Paul guy myself. I would probably go with an SG if I were buying a Gibson. Part of it is because I find a Strat a bit more challenging to play, not to mention most of the guitar players I really liked when I was starting to play guitar either played Stratocasters or Strat-based hybrids.

With a PRS I sort of have the best of both. It plays a lot like my MIM Stratocaster and sounds like a LP with really hot pickups.

My first electric, back in the day, was an SG Custom.

I had to sell it to pay the mortgage.

I have looked it up in a vintage guitar book, and it is NOW worth five figures!

A friend of mine had a similar experience with a three-pickup Rickenbacker 360. He says nowadays he can’t even look at one for what he let his go for.
