Thanks for the reminder. As Ex-Soldier said, flags are to be burned, NOT thrown in the trash. The American Legion and / or the Boy Scouts hold ceremonies for such acts of respect for Old Glory.
Wow, we're having pretty nice weather this weekend, clear but coldish.
You're watching MOVIES today? WHAT??!!....There's college bowl games on ALL DAY, what could be more perfect?
I'm back to work on Monday too, it'll be tough getting up..:=)
I hope you and yours have a wonderful New Years and we'll see ya on the rebound!
If you have some printed literature on them and if he'll read it, he won't be sorry. They are very effecient and of course, that's their purpose.
A little pricey for a good one but well worth it.
And HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Yummy!! And the start of a new, positive, year for you and yours. ((HUGS))
I hope so ... from your keyboard to God’s Computer Screen. lol ... ((HUGS))
(((HUGS)))
Great and Great! LOL!
Dear Official Provost & CEO of Canteen Woohoos....
Thank you so much, from all of us, for all the wonderful woohoos you
have provided to salute and honor our beloved Troops. (((HUGS)))
Your trains!! Merry Christmas, TS...((HUGS))
Those are really cool. It’s been forever since I’ve had a train set. They were always a lot of fun.
I'll probably repost these later on the new thread since the day's almost over.
Now THAT is cool....I may just have to get a deck. d:o)
Did he read them all to you yet?
And a Happy New Year to you and your family.
Good thinking.....they are really neat and more folks will get to see them. I remember days of old, setting up the train set....large size cars and wide, metal track pieces with tabs that connect them together (sometimes with great difficulty), and trying to get all the track pieces together and have the electrical connection go all the way around. Thanks for the long ago memories.
Happy New Year to all!
God bless America, FreeRepublic, and may you all have a very happy New year. OV
If you have a "ping list" could you send it out for this little request on behalf of all our armed forces and veterans? I was ambling around town here in Miami FL these last few days and I have noticed quite a few flags flying over businesses (one a credit union) that are old, faded and tattered. I have sort of resolved to simply remind these businesses that the flag they fly is supposed to HONOR the country and her armed forces and flying old beat up flags does the EXACT polar opposite. I went inside the business and later e-mailed the corporate chain of command. Here is the reply I received:
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We unreservedly apologize to you and your fellow servicemen for the unpleasant condition of the American Flag. It should be noted that the Branch Manager did report the issue to our Facilities Management Team, the very same day you spoke to her, for urgent attention.
Please be assured that senior management is currently taking all necessary steps to have the offensive flag replaced within the shortest time possible. We anticipate (given the holiday season) that replacement will take place within the first few days of weekending January 7, 2011.
We will keep you abreast and advised you once the flag is replaced.
Then I got a followup e-mail this evening that the flag had indeed been replaced and again asking forgiveness.
So as a sort of New Year's Resolution, (if you know of folks with ping lists, here) ask folks to take the time to really LOOK at the flags that fly over homes and businesses, especially businesses that represent the nation like Federal Credit Unions or banks or well whatever and if you see a flag that is in disgraceful shape, ask them NICELY to replace it and also not to just trash the old one but give it to the Boy Scouts or a veterans group for Honorable disposal (ritual burn). Thanks, ExSoldier
He's cute, and smart too...he appreciates our Troops!
