[CA] Jerry Brown: Taxes Need to Be Raised, Services Cut, Belts Tightened
KTLA ^ | Dec. 30, 2010 | Brandi Hitt

SACRAMENTO -- Gov.-elect Jerry Brown is getting ready to tell Californians the news they don't want to hear: Taxes need to be raised, services cut and belts tightened.

His budget plan includes deep cuts to state services, including university systems and welfare programs, with a request that voters extend temporary tax hikes on vehicles, income and sales that are set to expire next year.

The blueprint Brown will unveil when he takes office early next month also is expected to take aim at several tax breaks and subsidies that have been fiercely guarded by the business lobby in Sacramento, according to people involved in budget discussions with the incoming administration.

Among the breaks are multi-billion-dollar incentives for redevelopment projects and hundreds of millions of dollars of "enterprise zone" credits meant to encourage investment in blighted neighborhoods.

Also targeted is a recent change to state business tax formulas that has saved corporate California roughly $1 billion.

>> the problem . . . is “[He] never had to sign the front of a check.”

That’s as succinct a summary of the problem with most Statists as I’ve yet seen. I often have asked Leftists if they’ve ever had to defer their own paycheck so they could make payroll and pay their tax deposit. That’s almost a universal “no” so far.

You know very little of nothing about “Moonbeam” Brown.

He bankrupted Oakland as Mayor, the same to California when he was a former governor of Cal.

Believe it when we say; To Brown, a “deep cut” means that creating a new agency, instead of spending 10 billion on it, one merely spends 5. Or, for an existing agency, instead of growing it by a factor of 3, one only grows it by 1.5.

You will NEVER see Brown eliminate or dissolve a welfare program, a Socialist agency or cut funding to any program that relates to his Marxist agenda. If any cuts come, they will be to Free Enterprize, private business tax breaks or to anthing that benefits the free enterprize system.

He has proven this fact countless times in the past, and will continue to do so.

California is too far gone to even understand what that means, nor even care to do something about it. This recent result from the 2010 election proves this sad fact.

Michael Savage donated at least $5,000.00 that we know of to democrat/liberal, pro-Amnesty Jerry Brown.

Savage is a leftist mole.

Nevertheless, the business community has fervently argued that rolling back any tax breaks during the current economic slowdown could plunge the state back into a recession.

Back?

I have no problem with a large tax increase on the pension income of all retired state and local government employees. The tax could be withheld on all pension payments. A tax rate of at least 50% would be “fair.” The pension tax revenue could be used to help the children. Forget about any other tax increases.

Well, since the government employee retirees are the only people left with money, that is an EXCELLENT IDEA.

I am still in denial that Jerry Brown was re-elected to be my Governor. I am still in denial that the CA electorate is this stupid. My denial will abruptly end when my taxes go up.

California is Fooked.

Note to all Californians ready to pack up & leave:

I have a property in N Nevada which is for sale.

Due to health problems of my BROTHER-—not me—I have 5.58 acres, house & garage for sale. Taxes less than $1300.00 annually. Have all utility costs which will be shared with a serious buyer.

TURN KEY set up for horses—12 separate pens/paddocks. Fenced & cross fenced. Tie/wash/shoeing cement pad 12 x 12.

House built in 2005. Garage built in 2006. One owner— 3 br 2 bath. Open floor plan. Clean & ready for your horses. Perimeter gates 32 feet wide for easy trailer/truck access. 1 Mile off US Hwy 95A. 18 miles from Interstate 80, 6 miles from US Hwy 50. On a paved road, with quarter circle driveway out onto gravel road. Cannot get key-holed. House is on a corner.

Finder’s Fee paid in cash if you find me a buyer. Paid after close of escrow & funding.

This is NOT a short sale nor a foreclosure. I own this property.

I may have missed but I believe CA voters still have to approve tax increases. The same voters who put Brown in turned down the increases on the '10 ballot.

Arnold increased withholding but that only front loaded revenues for the state. The final tax bill is the same. It's more of an "interest free loan" and didn't require voter consent.

There are temporary tax increases (sales tax?) set to expire, I believe, in 2011. Voters turned down extensions of those back in '09.

Will Brown be able to convince voters more taxation is needed?

NO FEDERAL BAILOUTS FOR CALIFORNIA!

CA only sees 78 cents in services for each dollar Californians send to the Feds. That's less than 41 other states. Most states see more back than they send.

In that light, CA has been bailing out states all over the nation for years.

In CA “deep cuts” is a reference to cuts in the spending increases that were projected, not to the actual amounts involved.

Say the original budget for a dept. was $100,000, they were going to get a 10% increase in spending to $110,000, the cut to the budget will be announced as 5%, making folks think that the budget will go down to $95,000. When in reality, the actual expenditures will go to $105,000.

That’s CA fiscal “responsibility” in a nutshell.

Happy New Year!

Dang it, should have read the entire thread first before I posted #97.

Many folks don’t realize this is the shell game those jerks in Sacramento like to play.

Happy New Year!

Businesses are already stampeding for the border...this will just increase their speed.

The good news is the illegal aliens will follow the greedy employers that hire them.
