GOP candidates rush to get into Senate races
RealClearPolitics ^ | December 28, 2010 | Philip Elliott

Less than two months after voters gave Republicans six more Senate seats and control of the House, the GOP is lining up candidates for 2012, well ahead of the pace of previous election cycles.

--snip--

In Virginia, Democratic Sen. Jim Webb could face a rematch against former Sen. George Allen. Webb inched out Allen in 2006, but Allen has been building buzz for a return to Washington with speeches to tea party groups and less-than-subtle hints he is weighing another campaign...

As for the 11th and 8th, a lot will depend on redistricting. I don’t see much changing in the 8th.

I don’t know if Fimian will try again. But I think as a two-time loser, even when it was close, he’d have a hard time getting the nomination a third time.

“...I want the Democrat Party humiliated. I want folks who hate conservatism and who are embarrassed by conservatives humiliated. I want jackasses like James Carville, Chris Matthews and Jon Stewart to be left sitting in their pundit’s chairs drooling with nothing to say.

I hate liberalism. I hate the Democrat Party. I want them destroyed....”

Well said, Chunga. IMHO, one caveat though - I don’t necessarily want the Dem party “destroyed” - I want them to be a LOYAL American opposition party (if they ever were...) - i.e., throw out/otherwise remove the communist/socialist/liberal elements of that party and basically be the counterbalance to the Repubs.

If the Repubs get too powerful, the “good ol’ boy” network will kick in, and we’ll get the same thing - as we’re seeing with the RINO brotherhood. Trent Lott and his statement of “we have to co-opt the Tea Party people when they get here” should have sounded warning klaxons to everyone here about what those assh*les intend to do to our movement.

I know a lot of people who are Dems who are NOT socialists, NOT communist, and definitely NOT liberal-to-the-point-of-idiocy. They’re basically good folks who are misled and ignorant of what’s going on. I try (with some success) to wake them up. They’re Americans, with good hearts, and they simply don’t pay attention to politics (I know, there’s no excuse for it nowadays). But I believe they made up the bulk of the “independents” that shifted the election in November.

As the Dems need a massive communist/socialist-flushing enema, so too do the Repubs. A conservative inrush into BOTH parties would be a good thing - Americans FIRST, political party affiliation second. That mentality existed once...

Don’t know if it’s possible, though...but I like your sentiment, just the same.

Two-term Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, who stepped aside for McDonnell in 2009, will be running for governor in 2013, so I don’t think that Cuccinelli will be running for governor any earlier than 2017. Cuccinelli could run for the Senate in 2012 and, in the unlikely event that he loses the election, he could run for reelection as AG in 2013 and then run for governor in 2017.

I thought I heard on FoxNews last night that Allen was considering a run for the White House. Perhaps I misunderstood...

That’s all fine and dandy, except that Cuccinelli has said:

1) He’s not interested in running for the Senate in 2012

2) He hasn’t decided whether or not he will challenge Bolling for the nomination.

He has said that his current intentions are to run for re-election.

>> I think it was “meandog”. He called Allen a “chickenhawk” and Webb a “conservative democrat”. He has indeed been zotted. <<

Yep, there's been quite a few of them though. Corin Stormhands and I remember way back in 2001, there was some "freeper" arguing that Mark Earley was a RINO unworthy of support, but that Mark Warner was a "conservative" Democrat we should support to "teach the GOP a lesson". He too, was thankfully zotted.

I see quite a lot of these creeps pop up on FR from time to time, especially trying to elect RATs in Virginia and Georgia (I know at least half a dozen "freepers" who claim every RAT Governor Georgia ever had -- except perhaps Jimmy Carter -- was wonderful). Another "freeper" actually tried to float the possibility of liberal Democrat Max Cleland coming out of retirement to "take out" the "RINO" Sonny Perdue. When freepers balked and pointed out that he was pimping for a liberal scumbag, he tried to back out of it and claim he had mistaken Cleland for a different, "moderate" Democrat that he "meant" to post about instead. The mods zotted him after that.

I wonder if they're just crazy RAT activists from MoveOn.org and all that, pretending to be conservatives. Perhaps some of them genuinely are insane Dixiecrats who miss the good ol' days of one-party RAT rule in the south and think it's "conservative" to hate any candidate with an "R" next to his name.

Whatever the case, they're disruptor's on FR and their pimping for RATs is not welcomed.

Cuccinelli should run for President in 2010.

George Allen for Governor in ‘13

I agree fully. I spent over 10 years on my county's Republican Central Committee, and served 2 terms as Chairman. I finally had to resign when I no longer had the energy to keep it up. But for those who still have the energy. that's the way to go.
