Wait til your super bulbs burn out a lot faster than you expect. Al Gore’s mercury filled poison bulbs claim a 7 year life. They are lucky if they last a year.

Who uses 100W bulbs anyway? They are too hot, and burn out frequently. I use mostly 60W bulbs, and where I can get away with it 40W bulbs. I think the ban on 100W bulbs may be inconsequential; unless it is a pathway towards targeting their dear 60W relative.
First they came for my 100W, and I said nothing.

The way the laws are set up,
the 100W bulb is only the first to be “phased out”.
The 75’s, 60’s, and 40’s are to follow in subsequent years.
So, if you’re “stocking up” against the ban,
buy the bigger bulbs first, as they will be the first to be outlawed.

Who will buy these pricier light bulbs for the poor people and those on public aid?

Yet more reasons why we left California on 12/1/10!
Note that the Energy Independence And Security Act, signed into law by George W. Bush, will prohibit the sale of all incandescent bulbs of any wattage by 2014 throughout the US. Moving out of California just bought you three years, no more. Environmental insanity is a global phenomenon, it's not restricted to California.

I’m assuming incandescents would have nearly unlimited storage life if kept in a dry location? I found some in the basement of my parents home that had to be from the 1950s, the paper sleeve was crumbling but the bulbs illuminated fine.

Maybe they’ll have lightbulb turf wars, now that marijuana is effectively legal?

Actually, there are CFL bulbs that work with dimmers. I have one. It’s dimmed by an X-10 module.
But they cost more than a regular CFL

Does bad taste get oneself banned from FR?There's a few of us who would have been banned a few hundred times over if that were the case...

I probably have stocked up enough for my lifetime.
I guess I’ll have to make a provision in my will...

My mistake, I was thinking about 3-way bulbs. It really didn’t work very well.
