The Civil War is about to loom very large in the popular memory. We would do well to be candid about its causes and not allow the distortions of contemporary politics or long-standing myths to cloud our understanding of why the nation fell apart.
The coming year will mark the 150th anniversary of the onset of the conflict, which is usually dated to April 12, 1861, when Confederate batteries opened fire at 4:30 a.m. on federal troops occupying Fort Sumter. Union forces surrendered the next day, after 34 hours of shelling.

Scarlett O'Hara to her three-year-old son, when the Yankees arrive at Tara. The little boy later passes out from fear. Maybe it was the smell...

Silly man, you truly do need to ditch the tinfoil hat.

I should hope not. It is a painful phase of life for those who must grow through it.

Actually, not. Back then, those “leftist” demoncrat politicians were considered useful idiots. They were considered not far enough left to be of great service to the “cause”. You’ve got a lot to learn about the evils of Marxist Socialism.

Did your paranoia indicate to you that I was?No, to non-sequitur's credit he had a smooth sophistication to his prognostications that you do not, it was very clear when I had the displeasure of reading one of your clumsy posts for the first time. I am sure the Coven is embarrassed by your ham handedness.

BTW, there's something that rockrr didn't tell you and, since you're new, perhaps you didn't know: you don't have to join in these threads. It's strictly voluntary which should tell you all you need to know about rockrr and his band of paid provocateurs. You are a joke. What little credibility you may have had is gone with that posting of utter stupidity, paranoia and slander.
Real cowboys ride horses. The closest you've come to the occupation is being the horse's posterior.

Then do ignore my posts.
After all, they are surely well beneath your stature to entertain.

I was trying to help end this thread, but since you asked me directly it's only polite to reply
Likewise. . .
BTW, a much more effective and honest way to end a thread is not to post insulting cartoons.

NeoYankees here wish to use an article by EJ Dionne on a conservative forum to bolster their race based bigotry against white southerners on Free Republic.
Have at it by all means.

While this has been amusing, I'll have to take my leave. I just had a few dozen auctions end on Ebay, and it's going to take a while to package everything. See ya!

The one and only thing Abe was good for. A statue that one day I can hopefully dive on and relieve myself on. Gee, I wonder what Beck and Palin and the hundreds of thousands of patriotic Americans who recently attended the Restoring Honor Rally at the Lincoln Memorial would think about your creepy ambition?

Just more Yosemite Sam type bluster from you I see.
"You, thumper, rockrr and the rest of the coven ain't no Ronald Reagan, pal."
I can't speak for the others, but that is true about me. I was never a left wing Democrat like Reagan was. Roosevelt was a swear word in my house. I was born and raised Conservative and I have never once regretted that fact. I thank my parents for raising me "right."
As to Reagan, I am thankful he had his Road to Damascus moment. In my opinion, just like Paul of Tarsus, converts are among the most thoughtful and effective Conservatives we have. I welcome each and every one to the fold be they a Reagan, Horowitz, Sowell, Rodesh and even thumper.
I could be accused of being Conservative just because of habit. They on the other hand are Conservatives by choice.
Pick any WBTS thread and read it, pal.
So I can pick any thread and find someone calling you a fagot? Or maybe you just made that crap up and don't want to admit it now.
Now why don't we get over this name calling crap and talk history and facts instead of you throwing out slanders against other posters when you can't refute their arguments?

Those who were never in the belly of the beast could not possibly understand. They can only comment in the abstract. They are clueless as to the real danger the hardcore Left presents.

Anyone who takes offense at a cartoon of Yosemite Sam dressed as a Confederate soldier takes themselves waaaaay too seriously.
Well then, allow me to refresh your memory. . . here are a few of your light hearted giggles;
"It's funny, this is perhaps the only place I've ever seen someone use the word "damnyankee" seriously, without their tongue being firmly in their cheek."
"So not using the word "damnyankee" outside a humorous context disqualifies one from being a genuine Southerner?"
"Granted, he says "dangyankee"...but it is a cartoon, after all."
"Similarly, anyone who uses words like "damnyankee" or "yankee" as epithets is a bit cartoonish themselves."
"I suppose it depends on your definition of "real". While I know plenty of people from the South, I don't know anyone who speaks like Yosemite Sam."
Or am I now the cartoonish empty headed neurotic southern belle reading way too much into it all.
Congratulations, you're picking up on the coven's petty abuse tactics in record time.

You engage in abuse when using the term “coven” to refer to those opposed to secessionist views.
And so it goes.......
