(NewsCore) - So much for a holly, jolly Christmas.
A newly released study found that Christmas tree displays can harm the emotional well-being of those who do not celebrate the holiday.
Researchers at Canadas Simon Fraser University (SFU) studied the psychological effect that Christmas displays have by asking test participants to work in a room that either contained a Christmas tree or did not.
The results showed that for those participants who did not celebrate the holiday, being in a room with a Christmas tree made them feel less sure of themselves.
The result was the opposite for those who did celebrate Christmas, as they reported feeling more positive after spending time in the presence of a decorated tree.
Participants with non-Christian religious backgrounds Sikhs and Buddhists, for instance reported less self-assurance and feeling less included at the university when they were in the presence of a Christmas tree.

Ask me if I give a damn.
So what. I’m offended every time I see someone wearing a burka.
Horse sh**. Lack of Christmas trees affect MY well being. How about that, you bas****s.
So, if I were to go to India, I might also feel a bit out-of-place, but that would not give me the right to remake the country.
What sort of people are we talking about here, who are so dleicate that a Christmas tree hurts them? Do we really want to increase the proportion of such weaklings in our population?
No, it is all phony. I have met Sikhs, for example, who don’t mind Christmas trees at all. I am sure that it is easier than having Muslims nearby.
I also really do not mind other peoples’ holidays. I rather like the Lunar New Year: a great time for a feast of Chinese (or Korean) food. Similarly the Indian Feast of Lights does not seem to me to be at all anti-Christian, and the food and friendship are good. I have never been harmed by any Jewish holiday.
But maybe I am just a tough guy!
You know what-I don’t care if their feelings are hurt. This is a Christian country & if they don’t like it please move to another country that will put up with their crap.
All Obama has done in my opinion is cause people to become more inclined to be against unions, gays, illegals, blacks, countries that Obama bows down to, etc. I’m getting fed up-No I’m already fed up & if the Republicans don’t allow the tea party people into making decisions I think the Republicans should call it a day & let the Tea Party take over. Plus if you give people unemployment for over a year why would they want to find a job. Its easier to sit on their butts & do nothing & still get paid. It was that way in Mich. with No Fault benefits. Most people were getting more money staying off work than going back to work. I have no problems with helping people who are really are in need with food, donations etc. but if the person isn’t even looking for any kind of work they need to get off unemployment etc. So sorry for the rant, Jim Robinson, but I’m fed up with the Progressives & their idea of destroying what makes the United States a great country to live in.
I think we can develop the emotional maturity to not be offended at things where no offense is intended. Maybe lacking emotional maturity one would not be able to control emotions. But in chosing to develop one’s emotional maturity they learn when there is truly offense meant and when there’s not. They’d also learn the difference between being excluded by others from an activity like Christmas and one chosing to exclude themselves-—and then not being offended when others chose to partake. So you are partially right—we don’t control our emotions or those things at which we take offense until we develop the capacity to not misinterpret events as being a personal affront. This is a skill that takes a long time to develop. It’s one my company, in part, trains with business managers and their employees and we see it is a learnable skill.
I call B.S. on this.
They’re pretty.
I happen to think they are pagan nonsense, but that’s my thing.
The only people who feel “excluded” are those insecure in their religion.
How about Kwanzaa?
Be thankful that for the moment our enemies are content to nag and only verbally assault Christians. The ground is patiently being cultivated for outright persecution once it becomes politically correct to do so. One by one, the moral and ethical bars are being chipped away, starting in the public schools, into the universities and academia.
The course will not be changed because there in no effort to change it, ever. No matter who is elected, I might add.
Where is it even on the agenda that it is not quickly marginalized and then vaporizes.
Well let them get a Festivas pole and tell off each other.
F’em!
How’s that for being ‘offended’?
Actually, if you google “Christmas Decorations in India” or omit Decorations, in news or images, you get a pretty good feel of the celebrations there - granted, Bombay is an exception but no nonChristian takes the decorations of the season as an offense.
Christians celebrate Divali and other festivals and are reciprocated at Christmas by Hindu and even Muslim friends.
There are Christmas trees in virtually all the big hotels and many restaurants dress themselves up, so you can have dosas or tandoori with Xmas decor all around.
Wonder if they feel uncomfortable taking the Christmas bonus or paid time off?
They should be sent to sensitivity training camps.
I'm Jewish. I love to look at people s Christmas decorations. They don't make me feel bad in any way, shape, or form. (I guess next we should take down half of the paintings in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.)
(I also accept invitations to Christmas parties!)

” but in contexts where we really do value respecting and including diversity in terms of religion, the safest option is not to have these kinds of displays”
The obvious answer is to stop respecting other values and diversity. It’s obvious those other values and diversity don’t respect Christians or Christmas.
I’ll remind anyone who dares mention it: it’s your own choice to be offended. No one can offend your sensibilities but by your own volition.
It’s time for the raggies to get over being “offended” all of the time and learn to become Americans. If they don’t want to become Americans, they need to get back up on their camels and go the **** home.

For some reason, the President of this country disagrees...
