I do know the honorable history of the word “Amnesty.” Think about this, everybody who thinks that THE LAW MUST BE UPHELD MERCY BE DAMNED:....
I seem to recall an incident, o, about a hundred fifty years ago, where we granted AMNESTY to millions of men who committed treason against the Constitution by openly taking up arms against it and trying to declare it null and void, all to keep black men in chains.
And after the war, with malice toward none, we didn’t hang any of them (Henry Wirtz excepted) and let them all back with an... ahem.... amnesty.
And their crime was FAR more serious than getting a job at 7/11 as a stockboy. Ahem.
I should add that if you are descended from any of those men, perhaps you owe your very existence to the fact that we didn’t do to Southern rebbels what some here want to do to the eeeeleguls.....Perhaps you owe your life to an Amnesty. Ever think of that?

You miss my point. I don’t “support illegal immigration.” You wanna build the Great Wall of Texas to keep more of them from coming in? I’m all over that. That’s not the issue.
The issue is what to do with those who are already here. And we ain’t NEVER gonna round them all up. We’re Americans, not certain sort-of-Aryan-nations who behaved the same way in living memory who shall remain nameless.

We may not be able to deport them all but we can deport a fair number of them.

It’s quite simple: I’m a Conservative who also happens to be a Christian. Where the two principles are in conflict, the Christianity must win out.
And the sort of targeted hostility I’ve seen on this thread in particular may or may not be Conservative (although some, like ‘sovereign citizen’ nuttiness, is not conservative at all!), the hostility in question is certainly alien to the spirit of the Risen Christ. Do you REALLY think he would react to the eeelegul aaaaliens by saying “Lock and Load”? Hey, He didn’t even say that to the Pharisees.....

I support the right of those here, citizen and not, to due process of law and not being rounded up as if they were escaped prisoners of war in a country with no Geneva Convention. If that makes me a “supporter” of “illegals” then fine. Call me that.
How can we remain a western country with a nonwhite population. What does the Romanist Church have to do with the virtues of the Anglo-Scottish Enlightenment that our country was founded on?

The majority will be forced to self deport and the number of those remaining will be significantly reduced, thus allowing ICE to concentrate their limited resources accordingly.

I will very reluctantly agree with the last statement for one simple reason: right now all you have to do to import a North Korean nuke into Texas is to disguise it as a bale of marijuana.

Do you know what POW treatment is like in a country that doesn't follow the Geneva Convention? Do you know what a deportation process is like? Don't compare things you don't know about.
