WASHINGTON -- In a landmark vote, the Senate on Saturday ended the Clinton-era ban on gays serving openly in the military, marking a major triumph for President Obama, liberals and the gay community.
The final vote to end the Pentagon's 1993 "don't ask, don't tell" policy was 65-31, drawing support from eight Republicans.
The bill now goes to the White House for Obama's signature. He is expected to sign the bill into law next week, a senior White House aide told Fox News.
I agree 100% with you on the need to dis-invite this guest. We're all Jim's guests here and should behave accordingly. It's been made clear that FR is pro-God, pro-life, pro-Gun and opposed to homosexuality in ALL forms. My opinion is that any FR participant (regardless of membership tenure here) who advocates homosexuality in any way disrupts the Conservative nature of this fine forum.
We can certainly have divergent (and often passionate) viewpoints on how best to advocate Constitutional Conservatism. But there are some fundamental, immutable positions upon which we must all form a consensus. All IMHO, of course.
“Now any that are serving in the military, who have a religious or moral belief/objection against homosexuality they best keep their mouth shut.”
I won’t keep my mouth shut. What’s true is true and I won’t be forced to accept a lie.
Maybe they will only court martial HETEROSEXIALS!!
Maybe this will stir up enough conservative outrage that it will be an issue for the GOP pres. canadidate in 2012. Repeal the repeal.
But don’t go back to DADT, go back to the pre-Clinton policy.
I feel sorry for American youth who join the military, they are sooooo used and abused. I wish there was a way for them to better their lives rather than having to submit themselves before this Politically Correct BS PANSY way that is America today.
You said “As an American, Im a live and let live guy. As long as they leave me alone, Ill leave them alone. What people do in their bedroom isnt my business and I dont care. Were not going to be checking to see what soldiers do off duty. As long as theyre on duty theyre governed by regulations on fraternization and inappropriate conduct. That already applies to heterosexuals and it will now apply to gays as well.”
I would agree with that as a system of rights. But we all know that many of the Gays are going to want parades and half naked “diversity days” before long - they will push it as far as they can push it.
Give em an inch....
Higher ranking service members joining the waiting list would take priority.
Now imagine Maj. Tom and and Lt. Mike getting priority over SSgt Lauren and SrA Jim.
Just one issue I see causing problems for the military.
So you’re all for those mentally unstable people who commit violent sex assaults?
(Yes, the reports are out there, homosexuals in the military commit violent sex assaults mroe often than their straight peers... imagine that.)
Me...and I’m not a lesbo!
Now ndeed, the rescued wretch intended to be lynched might still need to be arrested and handed over to the law,,, but lynching is disgusting.
Vigilantism in this country was honorable,, those committees of vigilence stopped looting after disasters, etc,,crime. But they were not at all the same animal as lynch mobs.
>>>Give em an inch.... Is that all they want? Hmmm, I thought they liked the BIG ONES? /sarc
Anyone that doesn’t have a problem with men acting like barnyard animals and putting their penises into each others anuses while wearing a uniform that we all paid for should not be heard on FR.
If you support the homosexual agenda, then get the hell off of FR!! Continue supporting it on FR beyond this point, newbie, and you will get the ZOT!! Period. End of fricken story!!
“Ive never heard of a real-world homosexual dying to go in the service.”
“What kind of women do you think enjoy combat boots and blowing things up?”
Sorry, but I really dislike your comment.
We're both in skivvies and standing at attention in front of DI Thorpes desk. Thorpe starts ranting and raving about "queers" in his Army. BTW Thorpe was a tough looking black warrior with thighs and arms the size of tree trunks and a Ranger with 3 tours. Next thing I know I'm standing in a puddle of pee, Smith had peed down his leg. No exaggeration here I assure you, one never forgets standing in somebody elses urine in bare feet.
Turns out Smith had made an unwanted advance in the latrine and got punched in the face for his troubles. Sgt Thorpe tells me to get his personal stuff packed and gives me the guys civvies to get him dressed. Never saw Smith again. We assumed he went to the brig until they out processed him.
I'll be 60 this year and my fear is the guy who would have gone to the brig after the liberals get done is the guy who rightfully punched out Smith.
That is the unintended consequence I am talking about.
I have news for the half and half who calls himself a Christian. He is going to pay dearly at the Great White Throne for this. He is going to pay with a lake of fire for his eternity.
Political agitation to support wider goals. This was never about the 500 or so a year that where kicked out, it's about leverage for more change.
The only change in DADT that should have been considered was giving commanders the discretion not to act in instances of a person other wise following the policy being "outed" for retribution, etc.
LOL
Lighten up, Francis.
I was responding to a post that claimed that since we (heterosexuals) far outnumbered the homosexuals, that made us the rulemakers. In response, I noted that Affirmative action programs for blacks and Hispanics will now include homo's, in that once minority preference status is achieved, benefits unavailable to others becomes the Law.
