The last time Bradley Manning saw the world outside of a jail, most Americans had never heard of WikiLeaks. On Friday, Manning, the man whose alleged unauthorized release of hundreds of thousands of classified documents put the website and its controversial leader, Julian Assange, on the map, turns 23 behind bars. Since his arrest in May, Manning has spent most of his 200-plus days in solitary confinement...his attorney, David Coombs, revealed key details about Manning’s imprisonment and kind gestures from his family that provided a bit of comfort in the inmate's otherwise extremely harsh incarceration....

Manning is being held at Marine Corps Base Quantico, in Virginia. He spends 23 hours a day alone in a standard-sized cell, with a sink, a toilet, and a bed. He isn’t allowed sheets or a pillow, though First Lieutenant Brian Villiard, an officer at Quantico, said he is allowed bedding of “non-shreddable” material...

Behind bars? Were this Patton’s Army, the traitor would have been shot for treason by now. He’s lucky he’s still alive. He should be uncomfortable and scared.

Conditions were far more harsh then anything this uselss POC will ever see.
Although I am not one of the “lets hang Assange, lets hang Manning” contingent (I believe others higher up are helping Manning and Assange)....this article seems to be another sob story
Solitary Confinement is not uncommon in the military. Only so many servicemen are held in confinement before trial....even those with felony-type charges (drug distribution, burgulary, battery, etc) are usually sent back to their units on restriction. The military does not have a lot of servicemen in pre-trial confinement
Manning is in Solitary, also, for his protection. If he is encarcerated with other inmates, or, sent back to his unit...he would most likely be harmed before trial.
Contrary to the liberal view of Military Justice...it is not all evil as they claim. As a whole, the military justice system is probably fairer and less corrupted than the civilian justice system.
Manning should appreciate being in Solitary...the other options, right now, would be more harmful to him
Yes, perhaps transfer Manning to Angola State Prison in Louisiana. The prisoners there have been found guilty of many bad crimes, but at least they are patriotic and raised $ 10,000 for the families of 9/11. I doubt the traitorious Mr. Manning would prefer to be joining them over his current assignment.

That's one of the problems these days. People think WikiLeaks is some kind of anti-American conspiracy, when they've been releasing information about various governments and organizations for years. They even hosted the leaked climategate emails. WikiLeaks is simply a repository for leaked information, wherever it comes from and whoever it hurts.
Think about that one ~ greatest war in history, he's in the German Army, deaths right and left, nothing but promotions all the way to the top every day and this guy NEVER GOT PROMOTED.
True enough, he was busy shipping Jews to camps but others who did the same job got promoted anyway.
Manning and Waldheim will probably get the same cell in the same circle of Hell.
Now, about that book by George Bush ~ that may be the only one he's allowed to have in the cell with him all the time.
He also says he's sitting on a treasure trove of documents that will hurt Russia when released. He's not after us, he's after every government and large organization in the world. We're a big target, so we'll naturally take a lot of the hits.
