Bill OReilly recently talked with frequent Fox News guest Charles Krauthammer to handicap potential GOP candidates chances in the 2012 presidential election. Krauthammer called Mitt Romney the front-runner and said Mike Huckabee has established himself as a major player but his most dissected comments will probably be his remarks on one Sarah Palin.
Krauthammer compared Palins problem to Hillary Clintons in the late 1990s strong support from her core base, virulent opposition from most others. OReilly asked if the level of opposition to Palin is the medias fault, and while Krauthammer said theyve contributed enormously and that the animus to her is unprecedented, he also allowed that she is not practiced in policy and that the infamous Katie Couric interview was not a gotcha interview. According to Krauthammer, Palins growth in mastering policy issues will shape her fate:
I think if you want to expand your base, you have to get into policy even though it sounds dull.

I always like accusations, which is all this amounts to, from people who can’t back it up with examples.
Apparently Charlie hasn’t read any of Palin’s Op-ed pieces she has done in the Wall Street Journal and Washington Post
I agree with a lot of what he says. Palin was made to look stupid in the Couric interview; which we know she is not. But, she isn’t the policy wonk that someone like a Gingrich is. I would vote for her over Gingrich because I think he isn’t trustworthy. But, she needs to bone up enough to sound thoroughly competent on the national stage.
this is such b.s. it has been shown on FR over and over with links out the wazzoo showing her extensive policy knowledge, both foreign and domestic...
Regan was not a policy wonk. Gingrich is the consumate policy wonk. You’re fine Sarah.
It sounds like Krauthammer is getting senile.
The real question will be if Sarah runs, and if she gets the nomination, will Krauthammer be as “helpful” to her as he was to Christine O’Donnell?
Palin has experience governing, and she had a very high approval rating as Gov.
Yes.
LLS
Huckabee and Romney , please give me a break.
open borders and homo’s.
Well, she’s sure no John Bolton when it comes to foreign policy that’s for sure.
FWIW
I want a leader, not a wonk.
Reagan might not have been a wonk along the lines of Gingrich, but he was much more versed on policy than he’s been given credit for. He was writing in-depth position papers in the years after his governorship.
What Krauthammer is really saying: “ I am Ivy League educated, you are not. That comes first before anything else.”
There, fixed it for you.
"Go Mitt. Go Mitt. Go Mitt.
We attack the GOP's women candidates
.for you.
For you!!!!!!"
"Rove has made no secret of his support for Romney as McCain's VP. "
