Some facts on Salvia:
Salvia (Salvia divinorum) is an herb common to southern Mexico and Central and South America. The main active ingredient in Salvia,is a potent activator of kappa opioid receptors in the brain. These receptors differ from those activated by the more commonly known opioids, such as heroin and morphine... ingested by chewing fresh leaves or by drinking their extracted juices.. can be smoked as a joint, consumed in water pipes [popular], or vaporized and inhaled. Although Salvia currently is not a drug regulated by the Controlled Substances Act, several States and countries have passed legislation to regulate its use. The Drug Enforcement Agency has listed Salvia as a drug of concern and is considering classifying it as a Schedule I drug, like LSD or marijuana.
People who abuse salvia generally experience hallucinations or psychotomimetic episodes (a transient experience that mimics a psychosis). Subjective effects have been described as intense but short-lived, appearing in less than 1 minute and lasting less than 30 minutes. They include psychedelic-like changes in visual perception, mood and body sensations, emotional swings, feelings of detachment, and importantly, a highly modified perception of external reality and the self, leading to a decreased ability to interact with one's surroundings. This last effect has prompted concern about the dangers of driving under the influence of salvinorin.
In 2009, NIDAs Monitoring the Future Survey of 8th, 10th, and 12th graders asked about salvia abuse for the first time5.7 percent of high school seniors reported past year use (greater than the percent reporting ecstasy use).
Thanks to YouTube [and 5 minute use timeframe], many young people from ages 16 - 25 have jumped in the bandwagon to get high with salvia and post the video on YouTube. Just like the old YouTube trend, 2Girls1Cup, many older teens have started to become highly interested in this legal drug. Marijuana, [CLAIMED]a harmless drug, is illegal while Salvia is sold online or just about any other smoke shop.

17 states have passed laws regulating salvia divinorum, most of them with outright bans on its possession and distribution. Now, two more states, Maryland and Minnesota, are poised to join them, the former with legislation limiting its possession to adults and the latter with an outright ban.
Oh....and pinging Laz.
They’re shutting down head shops in the Tampa Bay area that sell “K2,” which I believe is salvia or a derivative. It’s been selling like crazy, and people get high on it quite often.
Having been a pot smoker in the past, I think I would prefer to stick with the illegal stuff. Who finds these drugs anyway? Do hippies go into the forests of Costa Rica with a bong and just pick, pack, and fire it up to see if it gets them high?

Sounds like a variant of LSD. Same kind of effects. I know several people who drugged out on LSD back in the day, and they still have not fully recovered. Their lives were wrecked.
Miley Cyrus has been banned from our house (and young daughters lives) since she first showed up. My wife instinctually knew she was bad news from the start, thank goodness.

Odds are her obit has already been written, along with Spears’ and Lohan’s. Too much unearned success too early in life can be fatal. It’s like when some random community organizer who just wants to travel and party gets elected to a high office.

Don’t smoke the flowers in the front yard ping.
Well no wonder. Saliva’s had way more hits than her. “Ladies and Gentlemen,” “Family Reunion,” “Superstar,” “Click, Click, Boom” are played at WWE matches and hockey games everywhere. You never hear Miley played at sporting events.
What? Oh, salvia. Never mind.
