Here’s some bluegrass Christmas spirit for you:

http://www.karmannpowell.com/song/1

It’s a Christmas song I wrote called “Born To Set The Prisoners Free”. It works for Easter, Independence Day and any major holiday, really.

I’d like to thank the troops for the sacrifice of service to our country. May you all have a very MERRY CHIRSTMAS!!

Your Christmas spirit is there, but it's very faint.
If you celebrate Christmas at all, it's only when you truly want to.

It's okay if you're not really into the whole Christmas thing. Don't worry about not having enough spirit.
Pushing yourself to do more will only turn you into a Grinch!

You definitely have some Christmas spirit, and you enjoy the holidays as much as the average person.
You don’t go over the top celebrating, and by December 26th, you’re ready to pack away your decorations.

You have your own special Christmas traditions, and you tend to pick and choose what you like about Christmas.
The holidays are important to you, but you don’t let them take over your life.

PhotobucketKathy in Alaska, thank you!

But in our household we have a different tradition. For us it is Advent (a semi-penitential season, a mini-Lent, beginning the new church year with a time for reflection) until Christmas Eve when the tree and decorations go up -- THEN the celebrations begin and we enter into the traditional 12 Days of Christmas!

But that's us.

You have a lot of Christmas spirit, and it's evident to most people who know you.
You love most things Christmas, and you do your best to make sure everyone has a great holiday.

While you like the more commercial aspects of Christmas, you truly know what the spirit of Christmas is about.
You're all about giving, being kind, and sharing the spirit of Christmas with everyone you know.

WELCOME TO THE

FR CANTEEN

(where our troops, allies and their families can refresh themselves)

Good morning, Everyone.

Good morning to our AWESOME Military, our Allies and their families.

Thank you, Ma, for preparing the Canteen for today’s activities.

Our local DC Metroland weather report

~ Today...COLD

~ Tonight...COLD

The good news is that the wind has died down some.
And we'll be warming a up a teensy bit in the next couple of days.

Time for me to make my rounds. But, you stay right where you are.

The Canteen is ALWAYS

So, come on in and sit for a while.

There's always plenty of coffee, pancakes, conversation, silliness, and plain old BS

And, hot chocolate

REMEMBER THEM

DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM

FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT

Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allied military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.

(many thanks to unique for many of the Christmas designs)

"Star of the East" is one of my favorite Christmas songs. It was originally written by Amanda Kennedy in 1883 as "Star of the Sea," which became a popular parlor song. In 1918, she reissued the tune with new lyrics, an English translation of a German Christmas song.

To the world of 1918, beset as it was by war, political turmoil, pandemics, and economic trouble, the song expresses the hope of peace, love, joy, and salvation that inspired those who saw Jesus Christ's natal star two millennia earlier.
