Didn't this start off with 3 astronauts onboard? I am pretty sure I saw this on The Twilight Zone...

unmanned spaceplane returned

That states there was no crew. Unless it is like most AP articles and way off the mark.

Is this the “Twilight Zone” episode where a ship returns from space and all the astronauts, one by one, disappear?

Unlike the shuttle, it was designed for launch like a satellite, housed in a fairing atop the expendable Atlas V rocket

It is launched on top of an Atlas V rocket. Supported like early space capsules with a gantry.

Nope.

It would be nice if we could make all our Bad POLS dissappear like the Twilight Zone episode you mentioned.

Nice, just like the Soviets did back in 1988.

Still, it is pretty sweet that we have an operational space plane :)

Oh Lord, please let it have anti-satellite capabilities so that we may smite our enemies' space junk.
