WASHINGTON (AP) - The top uniformed officers of the Army and the Marines say letting gays serve openly in the military at a time of war would be divisive and difficult, sharply challenging a new Pentagon study that calculates the risk as low.
Their assessment, expected Friday at a Senate hearing, was likely to become political ammunition for Arizona Sen. John McCain and other Republicans fighting to keep Congress from repealing the 1993 law that prohibits gays from acknowledging their sexual orientation. Democrats have promised a vote this month to repeal the "don't ask, don't tell" law, although its chances of passing this year were considered dim.
"If the law is changed, successfully implementing repeal and assimilating openly homosexual Marines into the tightly woven fabric of our combat units has strong potential for disruption at the small unit level, as it will no doubt divert leadership attention away from an almost singular focus of preparing units for combat," the Marine commandant, Gen. James Amos, said in remarks prepared for delivery to the Senate Armed Services Committee.

“Mullen: Troops Who Balk at Change in Gay Service Policy Can Find Other Work”

This is just the hate-America left’s way of trying to undermine US troop moral. Has nothing to do with “fairness and equality”.
There’s already 3 times as many homosexual rapes in the military as heterosexual rapes.
Correction: sharply challenging Gates', Mullen's and the leftstream media's spin on what the survey results actually stated.
Put all the queers in the same unit and send them to the fiercest fighting. Repeat as necessary.
"Who ordered the Apple-tinis? You, General?"
No doubt about it. This is an attempt at the complete moral destruction of America’s fighting forces. This is also one more attempt at the beat down and defeat of the morale of our Troops by the slobbering military hating Leftists.
(Just look at the bottom picture of the ‘man’ in pink uniform attached at the bottom of the story on the link.)
Everyone needs to read the report and watch the testimony themselves.
There were 400,000 surveys sent out. There was a 28% response rate, and the highest responders were from the air force and coast guard. The press keeps reporting the “pro” repeal figures as a percentage of the total military, but THAT IS NOT TRUE! This whole process is being manipulated and lied about in a way that I can only conclude is a calculated attempt to undermine our military capability.
The Dept of Defense Counsel is an Obama appointee, and he keeps pushing for the speedy repeal of DADT because of some nebulous fear that otherwise the courts will do it anyway. That is not true, and the military really didn’t fight all the way the last time this came up. The chances are very good that they would win if the case came to the Supreme Court. Watch the testimony for yourselves. The press coverage is NOT ACCURATE. You will see for yourselves how self-serving a lot of our senior military and Defense Dept personnel are. You can also access the report yourselves on line.
Also—during the testimony it was brought out that the responses from the military “Town Hall” forums and on-line responses were much more opposed to the DADT repealthan what is reflected on the survey responses. This information was rejected by the brass as not statistically reliable.
Watch Mullen and Gates particularly. Their disdain for the junior military troops is particularly evident, especially on Mullen’s part. This is the thanks the troops get for fighting and dying to an extent their senior officers never had to face, although Mullen is trying to portray himself as a war hero.
Just saw your post at 3. Ditto!
Mullen is coming across like an elitist who is completely out of touch with the men and women who serve under him. Zero leadership being exhibited here by him. ZERO. Very destructive, but he refuses to see the truth and stand for what is right. From his actions, he would rather kiss the behind of the hand that feeds him.
This is an expression not just of casual doubt, but of substantial doubt _ if not a conviction - that the very purpose of the military force provided in the Constitution will be seriously degraded. It makes as much sense as allowing hemophiliacs to serve in the infantry.
It also represents something more than a subtle attack on our miitary forces.
The anti-American bomb throwers are on a roll and for the near term appear unimpeded.

Thanks. Keep it rolling!
Theres a reason Bush and the rats threw Peter Pace under the bus and promoted this puffy assclown Mullen. I think its because somebody has pictures of Mullen with little boys. (I wonder if Ubama ever bumped into Mullen at Mans Country? Perhaps they shared a hot tub?)
