Footage of Masyaf shows missile shaped items; IAEA urges Syria to let inspectors visit reactor that IAF destroyed in 2007.
A compound in western Syria with buildings and hundreds of missile-shaped items has been identified as functionally related to a nuclear reactor Israel destroyed northeast of Damascus in 2007.
Satellite footage of the site in Masyaf was obtained by the Washington-based Institute for Science and International Security and shows a compound built in a ravine and surrounded by what appears to be a line of trenches.
While there are no security measures visible in the commercial satellite imagery, ISIS said building a facility in a ravine was a common method of providing general protection and isolation.
Several years ago, a military base near Masyaf was mentioned as a possible hiding place for weapons of mass destruction that Saddam Hussein might have sent to Syria before the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.

This could be big. You might want to add key-words such as “Saddam Hussein” and “WMD”.
anyone want to take bets, that there wont be enough left to spread on toast when the Israelis act?

The NORKs just built theirs underwater in ‘08.
Which explains a lot of pinging and sneaking around lately under the surface.
Let’s say you have an old volcano, no magma chamber off your coast. You can easily remodel it to make whatever you want there, away from eyes in the skies.

New evidence of Iraq WMD in Syria?
Ryan Mauro:
Haaretz has revived the mystery surrounding the inability to find weapons of mass destruction stockpiles in Iraq, the most commonly cited justification for Operation Iraqi Freedom and one of the most embarrassing episodes for the United States. Satellite photos of a suspicious site in Syria are providing new support for the reporting of a Syrian journalist who briefly rocked the world with his reporting that Iraqs WMD had been sent to three sites in Syria just before the invasion commenced.
The newspaper reveals that a 200 square-kilometer area in northwestern Syria has been photographed by satellites at the request of a Western intelligence agency at least 16 times, the most recent being taken in January. The site is near Masyaf, and it has at least five installations and hidden paths leading underneath the mountains. This supports the reporting of Nizar Nayouf, an award-winning Syrian journalist who said in 2004 that his sources confirmed that Saddam Husseins WMDs were in Syria.
One of the three specific sites he mentioned was an underground base underneath Al-Baida, which is one kilometer south of Masyaf. This is a perfect match. The suspicious features in the photos and the fact that a Western intelligence agency is so interested in the site support Nayoufs reporting, showing that his sources in Syria did indeed have access to specific information about secret activity that is likely WMD-related. Richard Radcliffe, one of my co-writers at WorldThreats.com, noticed that Masyaf is located on a road that goes from Hamah, where there is an airfield sufficient to handle relatively large aircraft, into Lebanon and the western side of the Bekaa Valley, another location said to house Iraqi weapons.
...
General Tommy Franks and General Michael DeLong, the top two officials in CENTCOM when the invasion began, have spoken of credible intelligence supporting the theory. General James Clapper, President Obamas pick to replace Dennis Blair as director of national intelligence, has previously stated his belief that the weapons went to Syria and took part in the meetings organized by Shaw.
Much more evidence exists that the WMD went to Syria, as documented here. Obviously, it is impossible to prove and we do not know exactly what went to Syria, but the history books on this issue shouldnt be written just yet.
There is much more between the ...’s.
This is an interesting story especially for the Israelis who could easily find themselves at war with Syria. The Syrian army could not resist the Israeli army in a head to head fight so they could very well resort to a WMD attack.

If this turns out to be true and the media can’t suppress it, Jeb would instantly become a player in the 2012 Presidential sweepstakes. Dubya’s popularity would climb even higher as the “Comeback Kid”. Didn’t he say, “History will judge me”? Maybe sooner rather than later.
I’m shocked about this - NOT.
Thanks for the ping.
I’ve always believed that Saddam shipped them out.
The Ryan Mauro piece was posted on FR back in June. I think the problem was that he referenced the original info as coming from Haaretz, which as a source, has reliability issues.
I hope this new article from JP has legs, though it is a Friday, so I don’t give it much of a chance to make it thru the weekend.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
