Newt Gingrich: "We are not going to deport 11 million people"
Politico ^ | 12/2/10 | KENDRA MARR

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has a bold goal for the next decade: Overhaul the country's immigration system so that every worker in the United States is legal.

"We are not going to deport 11 million people," Gingrich said Thursday as he kicked off his first forum on Latino issues. "There has to be some zone between deportation and amnesty."

A possible presidential candidate, Gingrich stressed that his target of establishing an entirely legal work force is "not a call for amnesty." Rather, he said, it's about applying common sense to the immigration debacle.

"Dos y dos son cuatro" (two plus two equals four), he said to chuckles. . .

Newt's right. There will be no 11 million man round-up.

The housecleaners and Samwise Gonzales gardeners are embedded as deep as ticks.

Your own word 'border-bots' portray your 'open society' kinship...

In your fevered imagination, perhaps.

As someone who is deeply involved in the immigration and lobbies on the Hill and in Richmond, I have been following Palin's position on amnesty very closely. She has been playing word games to try to fool the uninformed. She has never backed down from her Univision interview.

Newt reached his high point on the first Tuesday of November, 1994. It’s been down hill ever since and he’s become more destructive than constructive in his contributions to the political discourse. This meeting is nothing but a panderfest.

And again we have the “we can’t deport 11 million people” lunacy. Anyone who says that should be automatically dismissed as just one more panderer. Enforce the law at the employer level, prosecute employers who violate the law, and enforce all other immigration laws and people will self-deport gradually.

>>All you folks should check and see if your grandparents (say those who arrived here c 1900) were citizens...<<

Like America doesn't ALSO take on a million legal immigrants a year?

Tearing America apart at the seams.

America has always been the worlds lifeboat. Well, now the lifeboat is about to sink.....what now all you intelligent freakin leaders in Congress?

We don't have enough jobs to support our own people, so what the hell, let's just bring in another million legal immigrants next year, and the next.

All the while, talk tough on the border issue and not do a damn thing.

Tearing our nation apart from within.

Let it break....let it freakin break. The faster it breaks, the quicker the true American patriots can get to work repairing this nation.

They can deport themselves. Stop giving them benefits paid for the American taxpayer.

Stop hiring them, stop allowing their children to attend our public/parochial schools.

>The zone between deportation and amnesty is amnesty.

Correction:

1) pay back every cent in unpaid taxes
2) get out
3) get in line, since in the USA we OBEY THE LAW

OR

1) go to jail

They can pick one of the two.

It’s “choice”. I am “pro-choice”.

Should create a nice turnover in housing.

"A possible presidential candidate, Gingrich..."

...is dead on arrival.

What a guy. Hannity's bud. A great American. NOT.

The people who came here in the 1900s were following the rules at the time. They were screened and registered at Ellis Island among other places.

“This is the constitutional solution.”

Couldn’t agree more ... except I would go back to profiling and make sure there are no illegals here, period. Break out the green card if in doubt.

“It therefore is Sarah’s solution.”

She is on record not being that clear, such as the Ramos interview I have already quoted. But, not being an absolutist, I can tolerate differing with her opinions on some matters. This is one.

Another example of Republican elites who live in gated communities with well manicured lawns who don’t have a clue as to what illegal aliens do to a community and the legal citizens within them.

For Gingrich, Rove, Bush, et al., illegal aliens are a debating exercise.

For the Country people increasingly infested with illegal aliens, it’s a lost job, a drive-by shooting or gang-led machete killing, a graffitti-smeared neighborhood, foreclosed, vandalized and abandoned neighborhood homes, inaccessible emergency rooms, schools of little learning where English is a second language, once-dead diseases like tuberculosis, whooping cough, bed bugs, and dengue fever, election fraud by voting illegals, DUI fatalities that go unpunished, even un-prosecuted, once neat streets that now mirror Tegucigalpa, and a hundred other safety and quality of life issues that the elites like Gingrich are themselves immune to but have no concerns how it might be affecting the rest of us.

Maybe the next wife Gingrich is working on is an illegal.
He sure is not presidential material.

No, I don’t support Amnesty, but any attempt to deport 11 million illegals would result in mass chaos. I say give them defacto citizenship. Give them a social security number, they’ll pay taxes & their rights will be protected. However, because they broke federal & state law, deny their right to vote. A small penalty to pay for not being charged or deported. If they complain, then they should have have just applied for citizenship in the first place. Then I say get democrats to agree to an extremely tight border security plan. Anyone who tries to illegally enter will be immediately jailed and will never be eligible to live in the US. Finally, set a yearly legal immigration limit of 10,000. Much better than the million streaming across our border annually.

Newt just signed his own death warrant.

Deport all illegals and send their brat anchor babies with them.

Why CAN’T we deport 11 million people?

[1] It’s just a technical/ logistical problem, and

[2] think of all the jobs it will create.

“It is highly unlikely that Palin will be spitting in the wind by 2012. By the time 2012 rolls around, Americans will be so hopping mad with the Obama administration over immigration that it would be political suicide to endorse the amnesty position.”

Agreed. I support her at this point as being the leading contender. Two years is a long time in politics. Look at the last two, if you can bear it.

"We are not going to deport 11 million people",

Interesting that almost a decade after the "11 million" figure was first used and with reports of over 1 million new (illegal) arrivals annually, the figure never changes. (It's more like 20 to 30 million).

Here's how to get the job done, Newt:

- Seal the borders to the best of our ability.

- Cut off the welfare freebies.

- Initiate a 21st century version of Operation Wetback.

It’s a simple fix. Turn off the faucet of freebies, and amazingly they leave on their own.
