Members of the Congressional Tea Party Caucus may tout their commitment to cutting government spending now, but they used the 111th Congress to request hundreds of earmarks that, taken cumulatively, added more than $1 billion to the federal budget.
According to a Hotline review of records compiled by Citizens Against Government Waste, the 52 members of the caucus, which pledges to cut spending and reduce the size of government, requested a total of 764 earmarks valued at $1,049,783,150 during Fiscal Year 2010, the last year for which records are available.
"It's disturbing to see the Tea Party Caucus requested that much in earmarks. This is their time to put up or shut up, to be blunt," said David Williams, vice president for policy at Citizens Against Government Waste. "There's going to be a huge backlash if they continue to request earmarks

I thought at least the Tea Party Caucus wouldn't be so hypocritical. They were very insistent on eliminating earmarks. They never said, "But only if everyone else does." Where are their principles?
If the people we elect to get rid of the bums turn out to be bums themselves, what can we do?
They had to know this was coming. They have a target on their back.
The mix of vigilant supporters looking to clean things up, and seething detractors looking to make things up to discredit ... is going to make this particular caucus earn its keep.

The hog trough is too tempting, even for tea party candidates. It is SOOOO corrupt in DC that even the most dedicated member loses his/her way.
Its like “Mr Smith Goes to Washington,” except that Jimmy Stewart sells out to Claude Rains.
This ENTIRE article is BULLSHIT! Just HOW can the TEA PARTY member request ANYTHING! They have no ever been SWORN in YET!
Perhaps we shouldn’t jump to conclusions here. We’re not even certain that this story is valid and may be a complete hoax (let’s hope).
Not only do all these hypocrites need personal letters, but we (and they) deserve a public comment from the supreme leaders Sarah and Michele.
There is no “Tea Party caucus”. The Tea Parties didn’t form it. It was just a number of Republicans being cute wanting to ride that distinction to election.
I didn’t like it when Michelle set it up as it gives Americans the idea the tea parties are some subsidiary of the Republican establishment when they are outsiders. There were no stringent rules prohibiting certain conduct or monitoring its members. This is one of the reasons I’m not a fan of Bachmann. She does things like this that are at odds with the movemen and a part of me think sit’s just to adanace her own career.
Not everyone claiming tea party values is a rookie.
Re-elected Republicans who ran on a Tea Party platform.
Was there even a Tea Party Caucus in the 111 Congress? I didn't think it was even in power yet. This is just saying that those members requested earmarks for their states at the time, not the formed caucus as a whole.
Be careful. The MSM is going to use every weapon in its arsenal including twisting words around.
There IS NO TEA PARTY CAUCUS yet. This article is BS.
at least Bachmann took zero in earmarks.
But I noticed that the hit piece quoted her as saying that the tea party (whom she is the defacto congressperson for)wanted earmarks to be stopped (paraphrased)
I think it is just to make her look bad because she is so untouchable.
Whether its valid or not, they need to know that this is just the first of many such attacks. People with principles always get attacked — sometimes the attacks are valid, sometimes they aren’t ... but they’re always coming.
This is why “hypocrisy” is considered the highest crime to most liberals ... because a man without principles cannot be a hypocrite, so they remain immune to such accusations.

They are talking about the caucus Bachmann formed in the House among already elected Republicans. The tea parties never endorsed the idea. It was her brainchild and anyone could join, they never demanded accountability. I hated the idea then and I hate it now. She had no right to usurp the “Tea Parties” brand for establishment Republicans to grab hold of to in the Congress.
My congressman hasn’t been seated yet.
This reminds me of how the MSM ran countless articles showing how Reagan’s tax cuts were destroying the American economy - months before he was sworn in...
Your full of crap and where did you find this crap ?
How can the tea party be involved?
The Tea party has never been in power?
.
A posting from the FAR LEFT National Journal.
Its a Daily KOZ like operation for DC beltway leftists.
What a load of CRAP. The "Tea Party" candidates won't even be sworn in for another month, you simp!
