This crap will never end. NK is a perfect example of what happens when we don’t turn third world hell holes into parking lots when we first have the chance.

I am beginning to think that obama is so weak that the norks and chicoms will move... South Korea and then Taiwan.

Does anyone else see a pattern here? It seems that anytime NK gets into a domestic jam (e.g., its citizens are eating tree bark to stay alive), they seize a US ship, or sink a SK cruiser, or drop a shell or two on an island. Then the US jumps in and says: “We'll give you $10 billion if you start playing nice again.” NK calms down until the ransom is spent, and then reverts to its old tricks.
I have an idea. How ‘bout we say: “The next time you pull something like this off again, we're going to blow your tincan a$$ into the next millenia.” People around the world seem to hate us anyway, we might as well give them a real reason for it.

Sure. They see him for the one-term loser that he is; there’s a better than acceptable chance that they’ll get what they can while the getting’s good.

I, personally, would certainly NOT want to trust my safety or that of my family to those utter lunatics in North Korea....

That would make a lot of sense. Start trouble in Korea, and stir up trouble with Iran to keep our forces pinned down. Then move on Taiwan, which is what they actually want. We won't have anything to send to help Taiwan without completely exposing Japan and South Korea, and we can't afford to do that.
The US is over stretched and our economy is shot. China hasn't even committed any troops anyplace and their economy has given them vast cash reserves. They have us pinned. We can't fight them everywhere, and Obama is to weak to do the kind of triage necessary to save anything.

For those with NETFLIX instant streaming, last night I saw an excellent documentary having an inside view of what it is like in North Korea. The oppressive dictatorship of Kim Jong-il makes Hitler look like just a tough schoolmarm.
National Geographic - Inside North Korea
Join National Geographics Lisa Ling as she captures a rare look inside North Korea - something few Americans have ever been able to do. Posing as an undercover medical coordinator and closely guarded throughout her trip, Lisa moves inside the most isolated nation in the world, encountering a society completely dominated by government and dictatorship. Glimpse life inside North Korea as youve never seen before with personal accounts and powerful footage. Witness first-hand efforts by humanitarians and the challenges they face from the rogue regime.

I have read somewhere on here from a FReeper that has knowledge that if NK would attack, Seoul would be toast within two hours.
What does NK have in troop strength at the DMZ? 400,000 + ?

Yeah, but Kim’s gotta soak the entire nation to keep himself in Beluga caviar, Remy Martin, and dancing girls.
The entire nation is a looney bin, with all the patients running loose; worse, they have nukes - and one of the most enormous collections of artillery pieces the world has ever seen.
Sweaty palms just thinking about it.

When I was stationed in Korea, we got a briefing on the rocket/artillery situation. Both sides have a ridiculous number pointed at each other...and the civilian population would be severely bloodied.
Seoul is about 25 miles from the border...as far as I know, outside antiquated Soviet rocket and artillery range...so they only have to worry if the Ruskies have given them cruise missiles (but they’re our friends, right :))

I would like to see us execute a leadership decapitation strategy on the norks, take away their nuke toys and give the Chinese a huge refugee problem.

Can't help it, but the first thing that comes to mind when I see "NK":

And I’m sure the Chinese will do nothing to prevent that from happening.

The ‘2-hour’ thing is a an exaggeration given the likelihood of accurate South Korean retaliation. While there is a likelihood of widespread casualties, the bigger threat is of panic. The only reason that the US and South Korea have hesitated to touch Pyeongyang since the 90s is that South Korea’s economy would be hit hard in the event of a limited war or even peaceful reunification.
To: sukhoi-30mki
Why bother? Its not like SK will retaliate.

North Korea is the nation level version of a suicide bomber. They could destroy Seoul, but would be wiped out as soon as the South counter attacked. Up to this point North Korea has survived simply because it isn't worth the pain necessary to wipe them out. But that point is rapidly approaching.
All of the scenarios of the war assume that the North starts it, and hence has a free first punch. And that is certainly the most likely since Obama completely lacks a spine.
Nobody to my knowledge has ever worked out a Six Day War style preemptive strike by the US, South Korea and Japan. If we went in hot with everything we have with wings and that can carry bombs. Decapitate the NK government and destroy their artillery near Seoul before anyone has a chance to pull a lanyard. Seoul would take damage, but nor as much as if we let NK hit us first.
As for NK's vaunted bunkers, MOAB them. There are hundreds of obsolete airliners and old transports parked out in the desert. Convert them into radio control drones. Each could carry enough cheap AMFO explosive to make each of them into a MOAB cruise missile. Send them into NK in one massive wave. It would overwhelm their 70's vintage air defense. And the B-2s would be clear to go after their nukes and command and control while everyone is distracted by the big flashes and bangs.
It is a desperation strategy. But the United States has been reduced to a desperate and bankrupt position by the successive incompetence of Clinton/Bush/Obama with regards to North Korea. China is coming up strong. And we can't wait for them to get here to do something about it. Hitting them hard with everything we have left before they get all their pieces in place may be the only chance we have for survival. NK is going to have a lot more trouble fighting in the middle of winter than we will. Frostbite and starvation will greatly increase the lethality of every bomb we drop. So if we are going to do this, the time is now. Annihilate the threat to Seoul and then offer happy meals for guns to the staving people of North Korea.

And Im sure the Chinese will do nothing to prevent that from happening.According to recent documents released by Assange, they don't have as much say over NK as we (in the public) thought.

I don't deny any of what you say.
However, China's leash, according to our own diplomatic corps, isn't on NK that tight.
