Palin, I knew Reagan. You're no Reagan.
CNN ^ | 12/1/10 | Ed Rollins

Posted on 12/01/2010 12:06:59 PM PST by pissant

Editor's note: Ed Rollins, a senior political contributor for CNN, is senior presidential fellow at the Kalikow Center for the Study of the American Presidency at Hofstra University. He is a principal with the Dilenschneider Group, a global public relations firm. He was White House political director for President Ronald Reagan and chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee.

(CNN) -- The first date is over. Not much happened. President Obama and his new governing partners, the House and Senate Republicans, met at the White House along with the Democratic leaders and discussed the unsolvable issues between them.

Even though they made no decisions and both sides went their separate ways, they agreed to start negotiations on extending the tax cuts. That in itself is the beginning of a positive process. They actually talked to each other and talked of a plan for action.

As with real dating, both sides have to get along or nothing will happen. So maybe this situation has more in common with an arranged marriage.

The American voters are the substitute parents, and they want this marriage to work or at least to be civil. And we, the voters, hold the shotgun.

"And what you and the other nay-sayers fail to understand, is that Sarah having a show on TLC, as well as Bristol dancing on DWTS, is her way of getting around all of those lies, smears, and misperceptions that those against her have been putting out for over two years now.

You're making the argument that reality show appearances bolster her bona fides in the eyes of the American electorate. If you want to make that argument, please don't let me stop you.

The proof isn't in the pudding, it's in the eating. I haven't seen anything but increasing negatives for Palin. In fact, I haven't seen a national poll where she's polling above Obama.

You're convinced this new "media strategy" is working. Good luck with that.

I see Repub politicals dividing themselves into two groups. One group goes after Obama. The other group goes after whichever Repub is the presumed front-runner.

The first group is smaller but they are the only ones I’m interested in.

I vote for the most conservative and wise candidate. Period. Hunter was it last time, hands down. Yet the stupid party decided RINO McCain was "viable". Remind me again how that worked out.....

Yeah, a guy who never won a statewide election is viable.

But seeing how you support a guy with the charisma of a rutabega, I can see why you fail to see why such a quality matters in running for more than a safe House seat.

You seem to be under the gross misconception that politics is about fairness. It isn't. In America, it's a full-contact blood sport, and Palin has demonstrated absolutely no ability to handle hostile media, unrelenting opposition attacks, nor any ability to deflect the pop-culture assault against her.

ROTFLMAO! She's slaughtering the lamestream media and also the establsihment supposedly on "our" side while she's at it!

She is still standing and standing stronger and more powerful than ever!

Are you completely clueless?

Why are the media and pundits still taking potshots at her even though they're out of fresh ammo?

For a guy who thinks he's smart, you're pretty good at playing dumb...lol.

Truth to tell, truthkeeper, you’re a noob to me. :)

Pray tell, truthkeeper, which paragon of virtue you back. The world waits with bait on their breath to find who your candidate might be.

Thats intresting because I have never noticed or cared about about her breasts. breasts are normal. I guess I don’t think of her as attractive in part because shes my moms age and reminds me of my mom. But men who judge women that may make me sick.

Forever? No. For years to come, yes. Don’t be quick to dismiss everyone over 30. It was a mistake that bit the hippies in the ass. Us ancient people with one foot in the grave (That’s over 35 to you) still weild more clout than you can imagine. We’re more politically involved and have more resources at our disposal. Money talks, and we have more of it than your demographic.

Oh yeah, she's "slaughtering them". This of course is why she's fails to poll above Obama, while losers like Huckabee and even Romney, best him by several points.

Yep, she's knocking 'em dead. And you think I'm the "clueless" one. You're funny, but not in the good way.

Reagan might have finished his two terms, but then nobody was trying to put him into personal bankruptcy with false corruption charges.

The odds are that had Sarah Palin stayed in as Gov, she'd be bankrupt and not visible on the political stage. But that appears to be what many here would prefer.

I am talking about the establishment types in the political class.

not regular people. Palin is fine with regular people going forward as long as she has a strong and inspiring pro freedom vision for America.

1. She has principles (conservative ones)
2. She has courage (she sticks to her principles)
3. She is genuinely pleasant and affable (she can fight hard with a smile and good cheer - a “happy warrior”).

The subject poster was just seeking to provoke, I'm sure. Its the only reason he bothers posting on this conservative forum.

Seems like an odd way to spend one's time, but thats just me.

And us old geezers are far more FOR Sarah Palin, than for anyone else, right now. And I'm old enough to remember the stinking hippies, whose "leaders" were ALL closer to being 40, than they were to being 29; yet the moronic kids swallowed, as whole cloth, that asinine line: "don't trust anyone over 30".

Yeah, you've got a couple of months on me, I suppose.

Now you wouldn't be pulling my leg about caring about my candidate, would you? Hmmm? Because as far as I know, there aren't any yet. I think the one closest to announcing is Mike Pence. I like him. I also like Jim DeMint quite a bit, as well as Paul Ryan. I'd be happy if any one of them ran.

For the record, I'd vote for anyone against Hussain.

So see, now you - and the world - can relax. :-)
