Willie Nelson was arrested in Sierra Blanca, Texas on Friday for possession of six ounces of pot. As a result, the country music legend faces as many as two years behind bars.
If the Texas prosecutors do not reduce the charges, and the marijuana's weight is indeed six ounces, then he is dealing with felony and a potential minimum of 180 days in a county jail and a maximum of two years, with a $10,000 fine, explained former California-based prosecutor, Robin Sax.

Nelson, 77, was arrested with one-and-a-half pounds of marijuana and three ounces of hallucinogenic mushrooms on his tour bus in 2006, and nine years before that, police in Waco, Texas spotted a joint in his cars ash tray, prompting another arrest.
Texas is more stringent than California so he could face time. One of the issues that the court and prosecutors will look at is his prior record and given the fact that he has several arrests, even recent ones, for pot related crimes," Sax said. "I would not be surprised if Texas decided to stick it to him."

Then tell me a better songwriter in your opinion.
***** “Guy went through the Mother of all IRS audits. I mean, the picture of Uncle Sam being held up by the feet by IRS agents with cash falling out of the pockets totally describes the treatment Nelson got from the government.” *****
And yet he still supports those that would imprison him ... “Things that make you go uhhhmm”
He is the epitome of an “Individual” and yet he supports Communism or Stateism ... maybe he thinks he is a “Blueblood” and untouchable, I don’t know.
I like his “Outlaw” but despise his Communistic tendencies, that being said ... (30 years ago his was the best Concert I have ever attended... spent two hours in the parking garage just trying to remember what planet I was on. I was not the designated driver)

Geeze...where to begin? Dylan.
“The world is a better place because Willie Nelson is in it.”
Oh Lord, please explain how a dope smoking, uber liberal, pro communist makes the Whole World better.
He sits around in his underwear and preaches how we should all be progressives like him.
Not to mention he’s a Troofer Tard.
My favorite radio channel is XM-13, Willie’s Place, where they play REAL C&W without apology, unlike the phony crap they call country today (Kenny Chesney, Taylor Swift, Kid Rock, Sugarland, and all those other phonies, what a joke). Willie is helping to keep the real C&W stars like Ray Price, et al up front.
Anybody that does that ain’t all bad. Sure, he’s a lib but he doesn’t flash it like a lot of the aholes do. The Border Patrol in Sierra Blanca should go after the wetbacks.
The bus undoubtedly belonged to a tour operator or a corporation, not Willie personally.
Can they prove pot was in Willie's personal belongings. For initial stories, that has not been claimed or substantiated.
Even if in his personal belongings, can they prove others did not have access to it.
One good West Texas redneck on the jury and Willie walks.
All sorts of PC, color of law and local authority problems. Believe cop was Border Patrol, Nelson is not charged with importation, and possession is usually a State, not Federal issue.
Local prosecutor would do well to settle for a fine.
I couldn’t care less if Willie smokes 8 joints a day as long as he ain’t drivin’ the tour bus.......
Merle Hagard wrote and sang “Mama Tried.”
I used to watch Willie Nelson in the early sixties at a place called Frontier Town - and he was nearly falling down drunk every time he played.
Willie and Keith have consumed enough drugs and alcohol to kill an army - and yet they just keep going!
If he can't stay off the stuff, he should go away quietly and hide in a cave...live like he is still some free spirit, hippie with no sense. He obviously has no regard for the law, even if he does not believe in it. How immature and ungrateful for all the acclaim and fame he has enjoyed.
Merle Haggard song.
Willie's more likely to do something along the lines of "In The Joint Again"...smokin' debbil weed with my friends...
No.
And, at 77, it's not likely that he ever will.
Willie Nelson is a liberal dopehead and no doubt guilty of felony pot possession, but Governor Perry should still just pardon him and send him on the road again, long as he ain’t drivin’. Willie will not be rehabilitated no matter what they do to him. The Border Patrol should be patrolling the border and catching illegal aliens and drug smugglers, not arresting the redneck dopehead country singers cruising in the hippy dippy bus down the interstate to the next gig. What did the Border Patrol expect to find when they searched Willie Nelson’s bus on I-10? Of course he has dope in there. And his music is good. Certainly Willie is more deserving of a pardon than the thief Marc Rich pardoned by Clinton, not to mention half-brother Roger Clinton, pardoned of cocaine charges.
“Well Nelson wrote that song as well as a few dozen other great songs.”
And almost single-handedly proved that you don’t have to have any timing at all to sing a song. Tempo and timing are not necessary, and overrated. /s
” hes 77 years old and still touring the country!”
not to mention that he is doing so in a million and a half dollar Prevost motor coach.

“Crazy”—I understand that when Patsy was recording it she requested a number of retakes. When the producer asked her why she wasn’t happy with the song, she replied, “That’s not the way Willie sings it.” She was told, “Don’t worry about how Willie does it, make it your song, sing it your way. She did and that is the result.
When Willie heard it, he commented that he never realized how good the song was until Patsy sang it.
